Hey all,
Has anyone else been experiencing booking issues with Qantas?
Im looking to book 2 economy tickets to Canada in March - have been now for over a month. 1 of these tickets is PAID the other is POINTS.

They have been looking and looking but have been saying we are not sure we can seat you next to each other because there is only limited award seats on a flights. Which doesnt make sense as i was sure that you select seats on check in? (ok yes its been a few years since i have gone international now)

Then they tell me that we cant get a return awards flight for you anywhere around the date we are looking for - what a pain... what is the point of getting these points, if you can even use the buggers!!

Firstly, if youhave the paid and award flight booked, you can just get qantas to link the bookings so that you sit together. There is no correlation between the seat and the fare you paid.

Second, have you booked the flights yet. I would be inclined to book the award flight and then purchase the ticket. Doing it the other way around would be very difficult.

Give us a bit more info to see if others here can help you out further.

Have not booked yet - ive been trying to find available flights for my award points with corresponding paid seats. Thanks so much for that advice on booking the award first then, the paid ticked to match up - that should solve any potential problems.

Also, thanks for letting me know you can link them up!
I had no idea, ive pretty much been doing everything through the frequent flyer website, and have spoken to a lady from qantas on the phone once!

I'll be calling them again late this week to hopefully choose between some available dates which through the holiday out of wack, but free is better than paid, so ill make the sacrafice!
