doesn't worry me too much. Yes it's nice to have the plastic fantastic, but these days with digital cards and, more importantly, status on BP's (which is the only thing really important these days) it's not exactly needed.

Seems the only way to guarantee a renewal is to use QF Money via the card. Though you'd think new status attainment packs should be relatively quick to show up - but as usual Consistently Inconsistent(tm)

I have actually never used the plastic, have a credit card with no international fees, and status via BP. I never check bag for interstate so the bag tag is only useful for ID on international.

I qualified for World Platinum status on 20 Oct and haven't received it yet. How long is the wait ordinarily and when should I get in touch with QFF to get them to send me a welcome kit?

Qualified near the same time and the pack arrived on week three after that. But the QF's usual "give us 6-8 weeks for all things" might apply here, too, before you contact them.

For me that plastic card is my safety blanket. If my smartphone goes kaputz, I can simply flash the card and have them sort it out. Yes, I could show them my passport, but it's annoying to have to grab that out of the bag. As an aside, I'm surprised I still have to show my passport for flights to US. Hopefully Global Entry removes that requirement soon (flying into the US there is no requirement to show your passport with Global Entry, it's all biometric).

I've had luck simply requesting a new card from the QFF Profile part of the website.

Q Bag tag doesn't work for international flights, just domestic flights (for checking a bag in without needing to get a paper bag tag). Although yes having a World Platinum bag tag attached to your bag may help it stand out more. I will point out that I've had a fair number of bag tags get chewed up by machines so I don't trust something like a Q Tag to stay onto my checked bag long term

Received a new card in June (half way through my membership year, had not yet requalified).
Did not request it, nor am I QF Money.
Strange.

and yeah, I could request a new card. I've not felt the need to. each to their own.

I got my re-qual welcome email twice - once only after my year rolled over and again last week. Even though I requalified about 6 weeks prior to membership year end.
Never got the party streamers on the app when I did requalify either. (when I qualified first time it had those happy birthday streamers and balloons going on)
New card was sent out well after my year ended so too bad if I had a dragon at a lounge refusing to accept my digital card.
