Platinum One Avis offer

Good call, i was at first like, but it says this about weekends & the nice laddie at avis said its for any day. Be interesting to see who uses this first to test it out, cough i hope its not me

Well I'm booked in for a Caprice on the 2nd-4th November, normally $280 but my worst case calculation is $80 for the 2 days by just removing the "base rate". Will see how it goes ...

I arrived at the Avis desk last Friday night, handed over my P1 card.

"Welcome Sir, I can see that you have booked the Caprice, I have upgraded you to the Caprice-V with V8 engine and DVD system".

Awesome start :)

Handed the car back after two days, and from what I can tell on the receipt I was handed, I was charged $15 and change for the rental :D

Its funny following a thread with the ebbs and flows of emotion.....ok offer, then ...blah offer, then ...better offer, then ...gee better than i thought offer with smiley face...I may have to revisit but cant recall too many actually recognising a true recognition of status(forget wordings in the email its what was delivered)and saying gee P1 delivers a tangible benefit, thanks QF (this from a lowly Gold FF)..tinges of sarcasm but nods to those who have done the yards
Good on you for getting something thats actually useful for yr loyalty

Forgot to say that when I was picking up the car the full rental value of $280 odd was shown on the rental agreement. I figured I'd take it up with QF/Avis if that's what I was actually charged. The invoice I received when I returned the car seemed to indicate that I was going to be charge $15.xx, but I'm yet to see the charge appear on my credit card for confirmation.

Just checked my credit card statement and I was indeed charged $15.28 for the entire rental. Winning :)

So i go use the coupon code to book a car in PER for the 30th November till the 2nd December (Friday night to sunday arvo) & it comes up saying "Coupon time frame restrictions not met. Check coupon terms" so i change the dates to the 1st December till the 2nd December (saturday to Sunday) & would you know it, it worked.

That didnt do that last time i went to go book a car & when I rang avis about this a few weeks ago it was any day car hire. grrr, so looks like it is only weekend hire, which sux, a call to avis confirmed that i will have to pay for the friday, but take the vouhcer into avis when i get the car & try & see what happens

Last time I had the caprice I think the fuel bill exceeded the rental charges, but it may have had something to do with my enjoyment off the lights LOL

I have booked a car for Thurs-Fri this week in Brisbane and if I was to keep the car for the Saturday, it would be "free" (removes the base rate). Confirms this promo is for a free weekend day (or 2) but is not valid for any "free" weekday.

Full rental amount is shown on rental agreement because their system only calculates discounts from coupons when you return the car and the agreement is finalised/closed. Very annoying, but I know how it works and can calculate what it will cost to the cent.

Avis always take several days to a week to charge my card. Authorisation drops off before it charged too!

Good to see my calculation of $8/day earlier in this thread was pretty much spot on!

Me too! Rental was $57 (upgrade from SV6) for two days and the fuel bill was at least double!
