The complimentary flight per membership year easily covers the Edge annual fee, so I'll easily keep the Edge and continue pushing utilities and insurances through my ANZ Platinum Amex ... yes $299 per year for that ANZ card but I have my reasons for keeping it ;)

Really? Can you post a link. The website for the reserve card does not (?yet) mention this: American Express®
If confirmed, this is seriously bad and I will be cancelling!
It would change my strategies ...

Received the letter detailing the changes for my Plat Edge card last night. As I think I already mentioned, I mainly use it for supermarket, a little petrol and not much else, as most other billers I pay do not accept Amex (Origin, South East Water, council rates), so changes don't really phase me too much. Flight is still worth way more than the annual fee.

We seem to think along the same lines AdMEL... maybe for me a bit more petrol :D I'm going to spend my time off over the weekend looking at Visa/MC $1/1pt alternatives. Really don't want to go with Qantas based but Virgin don't seem to have a good offer out with low annual fee.

I don't own a car! I'd be interested in what you come up with.

My better half who has association Amex (Gold and Edge) also received the letter. But her fee is like only $99 for Edge anyway with free return flights it is still worth keeping it. Admittedly we don't travel interstate much these days so it is a matter of us trying to convince ourselves to go somewhere interstate.
