From the QF website on the benefits for Plat One
Invitations to special events and experiences

It's the little extras that make all the difference. That's why there's more to Platinum One benefits than just flying. Throughout the year, the Platinum One Special Service Team will be inviting Platinum One members to enjoy a range of other experiences, from family tickets to Qantas sponsored events and other leisure activities such as the chance to take the controls in a Qantas flight simulator.

---

Just curious, has any Plat One member received any "special event" invitation (apart from the initial launch party)? I haven't received anything, and along with most the "benefits" this one is also another empty promise...

Nope. Not a thing, although I didn't get round to filling in preferences until January.

A ticket for one of the Qantas Wallabies matches would be a nice event, hint, hint.....

Nope, nada, nothing. I live in hope but not expectation.

I got the tickets to the formula one in Melbourne. But due to an emergency at work I was not able to attend.

I can recall someone in another thread mentioning they got tickets to a musical or show.

I'm not P1 but didn't someone get to fly on John Travolt's B707?

Apart from the launch event and F1's I haven't heard of any other real love for P1's.

i think that's really that their marquee looked lived in and alive. there was bugger all people there on friday, obviously most people with status were busy. Race day it was pretty busy. usually have seats reserved in Pete's Bar and GP Gold Advantage..............the 16yo starts to object at any more bars........i call her the "fun Police"

Got 2 x days at the F1. Not Sat/Sun, but very very happy nonetheless. Definitely felt the love. You can even see a fraction of my head in the promo video they shot at the Mark Webber breakfast - 'look ma, I'm famous'.

Things seemed to fall into place when I updated my 'likes'. Made sure to put Mrs SWMBO's and Miss SWMBO's likes in as well so we shall see what eventuates.

Also got to have quite a good in-depth chat with the P1 team. Very interesting to hear what they do behind the scenes to smooth the travel experience.

Nothing here despite some tantalizing talk after I met a few of the P1 team at the launch party, and then when I was Trippin The Rift's invited guest on John's 707 ( Trippin got that special P1 invite, not me.. I was just his guest, so it shouldn't count against me in the "invitations pending" stakes...)

Wonder if I should drop thema line sometime & suggest a few of the things I would like..
Behind the scenes SYD airport tour; Flight SIM; lunch with AJ; .. To name a couple..

Oohhh sounds good Storyteller and if you ever need someone to accompany you I'm always available ;)

I'm not a P1, but I don't have the time now to attend "special events". Some of my family have already forgotten what I look like :)
I couldn't see any possibility that I'd be looking for more things to do if I were flying enough to be a P1.

Reading my "VA supplied" AFR and came across this -

Chef Andoni Luis Aduriz - 2-Michelin starred Mugaritz, San Sebastian, Spain & 3rd place in the S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants

Thomas Keller - The French Laundry, California

Neil Perry - we all know him

Taking part in an exclusive invitation only Sydney dinner May 21 for Qantas Platinum One members.

Looks like a great gig.....by the looks of it you can get Andoni to sign a copy of his new book.

That sounds like a great event amaroo...it would seem that they must have "tiers within tiers" for P1 then...I am SYD based and P1 but didn't get any invite... :-(

Nor any P1 special events invite...

Enjoy your night...

I wish.....lowly WP here:(

Only posted as it looks like a brilliant event and hopefully some of our WP1 members are attending.

Nope - I am P1 and didn't get anything...and don't be too worried amaroo you're really not missing out on much at all.

From a marketing point of view it's the worst thing QF have done - in the very fancy metallic box which is rather useless we got a coughpy looking quicky thought out WP card and basically a little booklet full of BS promising the world "exclusive invitiation only blah blah - including a sim ride blah blah"...it's pretty ridiculous. The most laughable thing is the "greater access to classic awards"...Just last week I tried to request a First Class seat to BKK the day prior - it was denied. They had 11 seats available out of 14. The "business analyst said no"...I guess QF sell 11 First seats on day of departure :)

Meanwhile I am loving the status match Platinum with Virgin with real tangible benefits...especially the Diamond Level Hilton and Hertz Presdient Circle...great stuff. QF really have lost the plot I am sorry to say.

I wish there was a double like button! This post certainly sums up the way I feel.
