Hi all, fairly new to the site so please excuse me if I don't use the right acronyms.
Was just looking for some of your opinions on the following situation.
I'm about 30 SC away from qualifying for Silver status with QFF and have a business class flight from Syd-London coming up shortly. Is it much point for me to acquire QFF Silver as I am already a Qantas Club member or should I register for the AA Platinum Challenge instead as I assume that this one flight will qualify me for AA Platinum pretty easily.
Many thanks for your responses in advance.

The Platinum challenge requires that you fly on AA flight numbers in order to attain status

If you are flying to UK via USA on AA flight numbers, then you can easily complete the challenge just on the way to the USA and could be well worth doing

If you are flying via Asia, then the flights will not be AA flights and so you won't be able to take the challenge

Dave

thanks Dave. Will be flying on QF (i assume via Asia) so I guess it won't qualify as an AA codeshare.

mingster,

It would be great if you could complete the challenge and also excellent if you could get the last 30SC to Silver QF status as every little bit helps.

am trying to claim the last 30 SC from qantas for a JAL internal flight however Qantas are balking because my boarding pass has my name in Japanese :(

The benefits of Silver over Qanas Club Bronze status include:
  • 25% status bonus points
  • Higher priority for upgrades and other waitlists
  • Recognition as OneWorld Ruby by other OneWorld Airlines
