Hi guys,

This is still in the very, very early stages, but I'd like to take an award trip with dad either in Sept-Oct 2008 or 2009 (likely 2009), taking in the following activities:

Germany:
- Oktoberfest
- Frankfurt Motor Show
- Nürburgring
- Roadtrip around the whole of Germany (shouldn't take long )

Estonia
- Visit Tallinn, as we have Estonian heritage but neither of us have been

Scotland
- Visit some fine distilleries
- Play a round of golf or two

Asia
- Somewhere (Tokyo?) for a few days at the end

I've tried plugging in some loose flights into the QF Award engine and it let me pick dates, but not exact flights. Not sure if it was a connectivity issue, or a routing issue. The rough routing I used was SYD-FRA-GLA-HEL-NRT-SYD.

As I said, this is still in the very early stages, but can anyone give a rough indication of: a) if this trip is likely to be doable as an Award Explorer (I believe it follows all the rules), and b) The optimum routing? Dates are very flexible.

Also, if anyone's done any of the above, please feel free to give any advice. When I say "early stages", I mean this is the first thing I've done other than talk about it with dad. :) I don't even know if Glasgow is the right place for golf/distilleries, or if we should be looking at Edinburgh instead?

I mentioned '08, but we'll likely do it in 2009, as 1) The Frankfurt Motor Show alternates between commercial and passenger vehicles, and 2009 is the next passenger vehicle show, and 2) I'll be over 25, which should mean cheaper car rental.

Appreciate any advice, thanks all. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

Don't forget Ireland as a place for golf and some mighty fine distilleries ... :p

Sorry... no advice to offer... just wanted to say "Goodonyer!"

I took my Mum to the USA for October 2007 (She had travelled extensively in Europe/Asia with Dad before we lost him in 2002, buthad never been "stateside") Must have been the most time I had spent continuously in her company since I was... 5...?

SHE had a BALL - which was the object of the exercise of course.. but it was surprisingly rewarding for me too! Bet your trip turns out the same....

Good luck with it all and have a great time.
