Just received a phone call from my daughter who has a friend on a Virgin flight to Qld. Apparently two virgin aircraft have collided on the tarmac at Adelaide with significant damage. No injuries as far as I know. I'm unable to find anything on main stream media.

No way..... Really?

Virgin are trained and specialized at hitting buildings, not other aircraft ;)

Hopefully it was a slow speed collision. What maintenance facilities do VA have in ADL to effect repairs?

Edit: just did a Google search and this thread is the only hit (no pun intended)

Update. The incident was at Tullamarine and it was Virgin Vs Jetstar. My daughters friend was a bit upset when she rang my daughter.

Apologies for wrong information initially.

Lots of construction and congestion of taxiways at MEL when I was there last week. Pretty difficult to see what (if anything) has collided with what. Is that an A320 tail cone that I see on the ground or a B737 tail cone?

Mods may want to change thread title to "Collision on tarmac at MEL" until the situation is more clear.

At 10:50 MEL airport site shows a VA flight to Maroochydore at 9:35 and a JQ flight to Hobart 9:40am both cancelled.

Apologies again for the title, but initial communications between my daughter and her friend were at best garbled.

ABC news now reporting a Virgin aircraft has hit a Jetstar plane

Read the first post and almost jumped in the car to go to the airport. Lucky I read a bit further first.

Perhaps the first post could be edited too. :)
