Plane Bone Yards to grow significantly

Seems showers in the air are gone for the foreseeable future and F/J service not quite what DYKWIA are used to.

This line from the above article will, I suggest, be common across all airlines:
"You’re not expected to help customers stow their hand luggage. Only small hand bags are allowed in the cabin."

Gate and check in enforcement will be essential.

Correct, I have seen several airlines post no hand luggage other than a laptop or small handbag. Also its in the IATA recommended COVID procedures

Also on shorter flights not food or drink other than a paper bag on your seat when you board (at least for Y)

Air New Zealand announces B777 fleet mothballed until end 2020 at the earliest.

[not exactly a final decision to send to the bone yard - yet]

I just hope they survive... There was a bit of media a couple of weeks ago that they were in allsorts.

Lufthansa announced today they have agreed to a convoluted "stabilisation" package of measures from the Economic Stabilisation Fund (gov) that equates to around Eu8B. The gov will get a a 20% stake in the airline and separately an additional share of future profits in return for silent participation loans etc.

They had previously received bailout packages from two other governments for subsidiary airlines in the group.

Lufthansa prematurely retired 6 x A380's in the last few weeks.

The size of the remainder of the fleet remains in doubt as the airline progressively prunes 100 of its aircraft from a fleet of around 700.

That is now off as the EU says they must give up slots at FRA and MUC if the bailout goes ahead.

The airline board is certainly "undecided" of late, this deal and several variants seems to have been on again, off again a few times while bleating repeatedly give us money.

Makes one wonder when they will run out of time and either go under or accept whatever they can get. An additional major sticking point may be (just conjecture) the gov wants 2 seats on the board.

Etihad to ditch all its A380s (they own 10) and cancel its order for 50xA350's

Lots of souveneir luggage tags or spare parts for A380 on the market in the next 6 months. Sad 😭

Here

Seems Reuters were a bit ahead of themselves.

Another source with more up to date informations says Etihad will now retain their A380s and some A350s will be delivered at some point in the future

SAS has announced the retirement of its entire Boeing Fleet. (737 x 47 planes) and will only operate Airbus A320 aircraft in future. Bye Bye Boeing.

They have also sacked 560 pilots and let go all A350 crew.
