Re. the various comments about NAIA, the last time I was transiting through (on PAL) we were offloaded into a corridor filled with the passengers waiting to get onto the plane. Lots of bumped elbows. There would have been more space to get past each other, but it was taken up by a heap of suitcases waiting for a baggage truck.

I've been in the Plaza Premium lounge in T3 (not the First side, since I couldn't get into that), and it is pretty good. It can get quite crowded, but overall as a lounge it is better than PAGSS in NAIA T1.
Just left the first section at CGK and it was ok again. Nothing outstanding but easily the pick of the lounges. Went for a walk and the normal lounge was absolutely packed and poked my head inside the SQ section and that looked to be heaving too.
Anyway I’m being sidetracked here now 🤣

Staying OT for a sec: How do you get into the First section? I’ve asked at the desk a couple of times and got fairly obtuse non-answers…🤷‍♂️

First attendant said no, second attendant said “I’m not sure” and went and got someone else and they said “I think OWE is good”
Needless to say I didn’t object.
I’ve been refused entry before but also allowed entry so I genuinely don’t think they have a clue 🤷‍♂️

People might argue that the KrisFlyer Gold lounges in SIN are average as they have no showers and can get easily crowded (after all, there are lots of *G Y flyers out there). Are they arguably worse than PAGSS in NAIA T1? That's a touchy subject.
POST COVID redevelopment, the Krisflyer Gold lounge at T1 now has showers. Not many but I have used 'em. T2 coming.

Late last year, the T2 lounge was dire. Fortunately, we were running late and didn’t rush to check it out.

Actually, it looks lie CX might use the First lounge for OWE! We’ll be there in August and will give it a try - probably need to push it at checkin to get the correct invite. 3yrs ago it was the regular PP lounge and ever since for QF and QR.

I’ve been pondering MNL for future trips to Europe and Nth America but the narrative on how bad the airport is has been a turnoff. I’m over CGK, but it’s a cheap known quantity. But the ready availability of PA J reward seats ex USA could tip the equation.

The new lounge is better than the old CX branded one. Big upgrade IMO. Was there a few days ago.
Found this recent video -

Definitely looks ok for a third party lounge. Qantas should negotiate a move from its PAGSS lounge.

Any sign of what's happening in the former CX and SQ spaces?
