Hi, my wife and I would like to go to Perth-Singapore in August on a oneworld carrier in J class. Qantas currently has a special for $3500 return. Does anyone have a feel for whether this is as good as it gets? I'm new to the site so apologies if I've used the wrong lingo.

For J yes, I dont think ive seen it under sub 3k.

Welcome to AFF

Its cheaper if you join American Airlines and buy miles under their program, of course availability can be an issue.

hi, what's your points and status situation?

I am Qantas gold and have 150,000 ff points. I'm not a member of any other ff program at these stage. My wife is gold with Qantas as well. The trip is not critical to maintaining status. I've never flown to Asia before so don't have a feel for how much flights should cost.

Of , booking PER-SIN on AA is something of a difficulty on the Australian site. Prices shown on the US site are horrendous

I am talking about buying 70000 miles under the current promotion for USD1500 each person, which can be redeemed for a return business class flight ex Perth, currently there is availability each day at that rate for two people in August and no issues booking regardless of the portal you use.

Would ff points be earned by using this option?

No, the only way to earn points using points is a JASA, but its not a bad option for low cost non earning J flights.
