So looking to do Singapore April 2016
Days are flexible. But want to include a weekend.
probably go on a Thurs come back on a Monday type thing.

So two adults and one Child under 2,

Looking for the most economical way to use my points.
We want to fly Business class.

Going off the Qantas site it's asking for 500+ k points for points only business.
Purchase tickets economy 2k for us all then not sure on point upgrade.
If i can find a nice balance between paying some and points would be good
so neither one goes crazy.

I want to keep point use to a minimum as not to waste them all on one trip.
But i also want to be sure we are on business, I am not the type of
person to wing my chances on the day we fly out.
I want everything booked and set in stone long before we fly.

Do flight centres have more power to find the best methods .
Or am i always better doing it online my self ?

Thank you.

I wouldn't waste points flying PER-SIN in J, as it is the 737 recliner J seat personally, but it may be helpful with the 2 adults and the infant.

oh so they are not the flat beds ?, just a slightly bigger chair with recliner?
So would be better just picking leg room seats ? in center of the plane

PER-SIN is a 737 operation so it is a recliner.

If you have an infant, you won't have access to any of the extra leg room seats on the 737 (no under 15's in the exit rows, no infants in row 4 due to the sash airbags in the seat belt).

Does this include the seats that face the toilet doors ? not right on the exit doors.

makes it hard hey

Unless wanting to fly Perth to East Coast then an A330 or 747 or perhaps even an EK 380

Seats that face the toilet doors? In which cabin as I am confused?

But the OP wants the most economical way of getting between PER and SIN

Yeah sorry, please excuse my basic information. I am not up to date on which cabins on which flights etc.
I have just started looking into it. This is also first time to Singapore. So still learning .

Yes I would rather sit in basic economy than add another 5 hour flight over east to just get business to Singapore (5 hours)
doesn't make sense. Plus the fact of the extra cost.

Essentially I am just trying to make the most educated/informed booking i can. Always in the past i am booking for my self.
Very easy just book flights. Pick exit row or business (other airlines) but now i have a kid to consider when booking which changes everything.
Plus until now i have flown virgin, air Asia , etc So having only switched to Qantas this year. And not used them yet. I am very green
to the way Qantas works.

I am very glad I am a member on this forum though. As getting advice from everyone gives me a small sense of relief.

Have you considered ScootBizz?

$399 one way (sometimes on sale for $299). Very comfortable seats (according to family members who just did PER-SIN-PER) on brand new Dreamliners. And for about the price of a Y fare on a 'full-service' carrier?

Actually cheaper than a Y fare on Qantas if your figures are correct.

Hi thanks. No i haven't looked else where. What ever the Charge is with Qantas ill do. I am not trying to find the cheapest flight. Just trying to find the best way to make use of my points.
for something worth while. But it seems like they are possibly wasted on a Singapore trip.

I think you might have been referring to bulkhead seats? Because the 737 is so small, they don't have those in the same way a larger plane does.

Aside from Scoot (which is probably a good choice), you could also consider buying a separate seat for the infant. Seating on the 737 is 3-3 - so it would not only give somewhere for the child, but also a 'spare' seat between the adults with more legroom for you all to share.

Thanks, this is an option. I was trying to get her covered under the free flight <2 yrs old , but may be easier for 3rd seat.
It was more for my long cough legs though 6 foot,. I can't handle , sit still on a standard seat . Drives me crazy . So in the past i have always selected exit row seating.

I feel like i should be flying Qantas or at least an airline that earns me Q points other wise i feel like im wasting the trip not earning anything .
or that my member ship is a waste if i am using other airlines. including not being able to use the lounge if i go with another airline.

Don't lock yourself in like that. If you buy Qantas Club and it ends up altering your behaviour, it might have negative value.

Ditto for the ScootBizz seating which is 2-3-2.

Personally I wouldn't sit for 5 hours in more expensive seat in Y on Qantas just to earn 1,450 points - especially if I was 6ft - but to each his own!

Is there other airlines that are partners of Qantas that fly to Singapore? That still enable the club entry ?

Thanks everyone for the help. Please excuse my multiple questions. I am sure i will still have plenty more before i end up booking.
