My TA now seems to have got the message that I don't necessarily want to fly the most direct routes, and that CBR-SYD via PER is fine by me!

I'm doing a DONE4 over April, and the first international leg (excluding transits) is from Perth to Osaka:

QF 802 PER 1120 - MEL 1645
QF 458 MEL 1800 - SYD 1920
CX 138 SYD 2155 - HKG 0525
CX 506 HKG 1005 - KIX 1445

All flights are Business except the MEL-SYD leg. I'm Qantas Club, QFF Silver.

Two questions:
1. Will I be able to check my baggage straight through from Perth to Osaka? I presume I won't have to go through customs/immigration in Hong Kong.
2. I want to use that five hours in Hong Kong to have a shower, get some tucker, then relax with a cuppa, watch the jumbos trundle in and out and catch up with the Internet. I should be able to use the Cathay Pacific lounge(s) there, but I'd appreciate some advice from those with local experience.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Well I should be able to offer some answers to your questions...

You should be able to check your bagage in in Perth all the way through to Osaka... If all of the flights are not in the same PNR make sure you have the flight details as the agent at PER airport should be able to manually imput the flight details.

Also, you should have no problems getting into the CX Lounge... Not because of your QF Club, but because you are travelling in J.

The Wing opposite gate 2, is probably the better of the CX Lounges to watchh the jumbos from as it is elevated and has a great view of gates 1-3 plus the left hands side of the aiport operations.

CX's other lounge, is in my opinion better, but on the arrivals level, and has no windows, so spotting anything might be difficult!

Wireless Internet is free in the CX Lounges... QF/BA Charge for it in their lounge!

Enjoy your trip through to Japan... CX Business Class is great, the seat is softer then QF's Skybed, and the service is amazing. My only experience in CX Business is when I have had operational upgrades! 3 out of 4 flights on CX isn't bad going from Y to J! :D

PS: My opinion of the better CX lounge could be biased as I was in the Business Wing and First Pier, but that is my opinion anyway... I will try out the First Wing in a couple of weeks!

I arrive on 3 Apr (I'm being met) and leave 1810 on 5 Apr for Paris via Hong Kong. Shinkansen to Hiroshima in the meantime.

Shame - I'll be out of Japan then :( . Enjoy Osaka, and don't forget the atomic bomb museum in Hiroshima, time permitting.
