In late March next year, my husband and I are cruising from (near) Beijing to Bangkok.
I would like a stop off on the way to Beijing, preferably in Hong Kong, to fly only during the day and not to have to stay overnight on the way back from Bangkok to Perth.
I have looked at Thai Airways and they can satisfy all except the stop off in Hong Kong.
I would prefer to fly Qantas if possible as I like the daytime flight from Perth to Hong Kong.
Can anyone offer me some suggestions?

I'm no expert on this but I can suggest you put some basic details into the thread title and you are likely to get more responses.

Go up on Qantas and back on Thai?

It is an awkward requirement to do with one airline.

PER-HKG QF67 9:35AM - 5:15PM

SIN-PER QF78 7:45PM - 12:55AM

TOTAL AUD $1013.00

Qantas.com International Multi city; don't add BKK

BKK-SIN
3K512 9:15AM - 12:40PM MARCH 2010. THB1800 Cheap flights - Jetstar Airways
OR
3K516 1:45PM - 5:00PM MARCH 2010 THB1800 (AUD 70) can you buy of the Jetstar website for oneways out of Thailand.

CONNECTING TO:
SIN-PER QF78 7:45PM - 12:55AM price grouped with PER-HKG as above.

Out of Australia you can't book cheap one ways PER-HKG by itself priced at AUD 961.00 :shock:

PER-HKG is available for 30,000 Qantas miles; + $112.00 in tax.

HKG-Beijing don't know; give me more time. Qantas.com.hk crashed when I tried that request. size to large.

SIN-PER on www.qantas.com.sg priced at SGD $414 (AUD 339) yes you can buy one ways out of Singapore on the www.qantas.com.sg website.

Thanks for your detailed suggestions, Bundy Bear.
I have tried to fly at night but each time has been pretty embarrassing. I do very well during the day. So I think your suggestion for the SIN -> PER leg will be too late back into PER especially if there are any delays.
I also tried using the Qantas website a few times but it doesn’t seem to like the HKG -> BJS leg. I would have thought that Dragonair would come up.

There is an early flight on QF out of Singapore but you would have to overnight from BKK.

HKG-PEK I have no idea why that is not working, I thought it was a one way problem but something else is weird with that.

I'd be looking at Cathay Pacific for this trip.

Note CX are part of oneworld so QFF points and SCs, and have good connections thru HK and SIN.

CX fly overnight from PER-HKG. I really think that doing this trip is likely to require a loosening of the requirements. I am not sure they are all achievable without excessive costs.

0.5 miles for most Y class fares (apart from the most expensive). CX would be worth looking into but yes the PER-HKG leaves at 00:05 (from memory) and gets into HKG around 07:50. The return flight from HKG-PER leaves at 15:30 and arrives around 22:40.
Try a multi city search on Webjet with the exact dates etc, and it may be able to put flights from multiple airlines on the same ticket in a way to satisfy your requirements.

Dear Docjames,
I have looked at Cathay Pacific but the PER -> HKG leg is overnight which I can't do.
I have just returned from a frequent flyer points trip economy on QF to HKG and business on CX back to PER. I worked very well. I could only do it on points, not by paying for it. Seems funny when QF and CX codeshare. Still it worked in my favour on this occasion.

I have tried to update my post but it has not shown up. I hope this one does.
I have realised that I have to loosen my criteria and so will stay overnight in Singapore on the way back to Perth.
So my plan now is:
PER -> HKG on Qantas
HKG -> BJS on Dragonair
BKK -> SIN on Jetstar Asia
SIN -> PER on Qantas
At least I can have a stopover in HKG on the way to Beijing and all daytime flights.
Does anyone know if I can book all the flights on the one booking?
And which legs would earn QFF points?
Thank you to everyone for their valuable input.

You can certainly book PER-HKG and SIN-PER on one booking ("open jaw" booking). You may be able to add the dragonair segment to the PER-HKG booking.

The jetstar asia booking will almost certainly have to be seperate. Make sure you leave plenty of connection time in SIN.

You'll get QFF points on the in and out leg to/from perth, and possibly on the dragonair flight. Unless you buy a full fare ticket, there wont be points on jetstar.

Ejoy the trip!
