Qantas expanding Perth Airport lounge - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

It was mentioned here a few weeks ago.

Well Qantas has been reading this thread.

Strolling into the Qantas Club this morning I first had my FF card sighted for validity and then scanned at a separate table (set up especially, next to the existing reception desk) by what appeared to be a sub-contracted agent (no uniform or Qantas ID badge). It seemed strange but then I ventured further into the lounge to see a very large A0/A1 sign with "We're excited - new facilities coming soon for your enjoyment. We've listened to your suggestions and we are expanding the Qantas Club".

Great to hear.

Qantas have released a PR piece giving more details than the were available two weeks ago:

About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases - Qantas to expand Qantas Club at Perth Airport

Signs were up in the PER QP yesterday mentioning that expansion was coming. Very tough to get a seat at 7am. Saw some strange "Hi Viz" then realised it was the defeated Aussie cricketers (well some of them and support staff, joke BTW). They managed to get a bunch of seats together.

Very empty QP at 6pm when i ducked in to grab a bite to eat and drink upon my return to PER.

From my recent trip to Perth, I now fully understand why we call it Qantas Pub... I wasn't sure where I'd be more relaxed!

Had no trouble finding 2 seats for yesterdays 10.50am service back to Melbourne but by the time we left the lounge there we hardly any spare seats available:)

Enough said really. After all we are talking about a city that took years to build a bus lane down the middle of the Kwinana freeway, only to demolish it very soon after and then spend years building a railway line in it's place.

Yes, Perth isn't always blessed with the sharpest town/city/infrastructure planners... And you may have to wait a decade, or two, to get something completed....

Lucky there is so much other good stuff about us...

Indeed ;) I'm just being cheeky about Perth as I lived there for almost six years. It did frustrate me at times....

Oh it can definitely do that, for visitors and locals... :)

Thankfully a few things seem to be getting done now...

I was in the Qantas Club Perth yesterday for an 8 15 flight to PHE. Managed to get a seat without a problem. I just don't like how busy it is. You can't do any real work in peace.

QP in PER early this morning was a 'Tsunami" of hi vis with a queue of 15-20 at anytime for the barista service.
I managed to find a single seat amongst the crowd in this extremely busy QP & airport.
It is slowly emptying out, though I assume still at least 300-400 guests here.
It certainly is not the most enchanting of lounges I have frequented.

It is actually a lovely lounge with great views ..... just far too many people! I am quite surprised sometimes that the number of people in there is within the legal limit!

Disagree re infrastructure planning.

Spend time in Sydney and you'll learn the difference between a town that just happened (ie it) and one that has had some planning put into it.

You forgot to mention the tatts.

In the monthly email from QF they said that the QP is being extended in Feb to include capacity for 140 more people.
