I can remember when smoking in the office was legal and acceptable. And I did it. I quit the habit many years ago and am very pleased I did. Much easier on the lungs and the wallet, not to mention those long-haul flights, cinema sessions etc.
What I find utterly ridiculous is those same people who demanded smoking be banned in office buildings (no problem with this concept BTW) were then surprised/outraged that the smokers were indulging their habit (shock, horror, amazement!) outside the building. Good grief, who would have thought?
So while I have genuine sympathy for those who have real health issues with cigarette smoke (asthmatics etc.) - someone very close to me does - I have none whatsoever with those who demand that smokers must retire a to a rural property 200km from the nearest people in order to indulge their habit.
And froggerADL has a very valid point.
