This is my first trip report so let me down easy if I leave out any important details. I would also like to preface the report with a couple of notes:

  • Although I have flown a fair bit, I still live by the motto of “expect nothing and you won’t be disappointed”.
  • My International flying in J is a bit limited so this report is more on face value than any comparisons.
We started out in Perth late on a Friday night (11:30 flight) on QR seats 2A and B. I think the Qantas lounge in Perth has had enough press not to rate a mention here. We boarded through the PB lane and were actually shown to our seats, a first for me. The Boeing 777-300ER is seriously spacious up front with a handy drink cooler between the seats. We were offered the obligatory welcome drink with lots of choice, I chose the Tattinger.

Being a late flight, the bedding was all in the seat storage ready for use and we were offered PJ’s in addition to the amenities kit.
The IFE was running already so there was a chance to scan the many options available. Our FA and the cabin supervisor both introduced themselves then took orders for drinks which appeared shortly after take off. Then it was time to order dinner from the impressive menu (food and drinks). Unfortunately I didn’t keep a copy so the photos will have to suffice.

Service couldn’t be faulted and the food was exceptional, as was the drinks and drink service.
Meals can be arranged for any time which is very convenient to fit in with sleep time.
We arrived in Doha and proceeded to the massive business lounge.

Next stop Barcelona. This time on a Boeing 777-200ER which was noticeably smaller in the J cabin and not full flat bed, not that it mattered for a day time flight. No PJ’s but everything else as per the first flight.

Lovely post and pictures ashleyn. Our friends returned this week and were very, very happy with QR out of Perth.

The QR experience is quite amazing I've flown QR J and F A330 and the awesome QR 787's which are in a league of their own.
Great trip report and enjoy the rest of your trip!

The return flight from Madrid only sort of had PB working, there was a sign but only one person working the gate. We had 777-300 on both legs and it was a repeat of the first journey. That in itself is a compliment to QR, to have different crews but maintain a constant level of service.

In summary, brilliant planes, great service, would I fly J with QR again ? In a heartbeat.
