Perth Airport increases parking fees ... again : thewest.com.au

Perth Airport has jacked up car parking fees less than a year after it increased them by as much as 47 per cent.

The privately owned airport announced it had increased shortterm and long-term parking fees at the international and domestic airports from Saturday.

...and for a justification (if you call it that)

“We want to ensure that our shortterm parking is not so cheap that people use it to park long-term.”

Perth airport is the new Sydney Airport in terms of ripoffs.

Their "Business Quick Park" (or whatever they call it) is $40 per day or part thereof. That I believe is the same price as Valet parking in Sydney.

The business plan seems to be "gouge at every chance, screw the passenger".

People need to start using the old 'short-term' parking trick they used to do at SYD..

i don't want to spoil the scam by describing it..

If it's what I imagine then that's a very clever trick. :D

Rats. The one time I'm about to use the Long Term parking cause I can't get a ride to the airport and they go and hike up the prices!

I'm fairly sure I know what the Short Term parking trick is, but I'm curious about how they put a stop to it at Sydney.

I thought this was the business plan of any company/business involving air travel and this includes retail shops at airports.

Like SeaWolf I'm interested to know how they put a stop to the trick in Sydney. ;)

In Brisbane they put a different coloured dot sticker on your window during the early hours of the morning, bet a few people wondered how the gate attendant knew what day they actually came in

Before the reorg in Sydney years ago I used to exit via the rent a car exit opposite the Qantas arrivals area, its closed now but I had a valid excuse, I was driving a rent a car, it was just that it was on a mini lease from hertz or avis and parked in the normal area. It was great when they had 1000 points a day rental promotions, three months of a mini lease resulted in a J class trip to Singapore for around $3K in total rental charges, with free parking at the airport thrown in.
