Airport expansion faces new delays in hard times : thewest.com.au

Perth Airport’s ambitious and longoverdue expansion plans face delays up to 12 months as airlines grapple with plunging profits and tighter credit markets, according to local industry executives.
So now the two worst airports in the country (BNE & PER)are playing the blame game and delaying their long overdue upgrades. Maybe they should look at paying back some of their gouging of the last few years :!:

The news article in the printed version says that QF are keen on the development going ahead ASAP. This will allow them to meet their growing demand by moving into T3, currently occupied by DJ, Skywest el al. If this is not possible, they will need to expand in T2, which will inevitably result in them not wanting to move out until 2018 when their lease expires.

DJ, Skywest etc are slated to move into the new Terminal WA when it is completed, thus allowing the QF expansion. Skywest are reported as being willing to move but are not willing to go it alone. DJ mutter about "difficult conditions", form which I draw the conclusion that they are not willing to commit to the move.

If my assumption is correct, then it could be that DJ's reluctance is the cause of the delay.

Perhaps this is the source of the "issues" related to why the Virgin Lounge at PER hasn't progressed.

Can't seem to think of any reason why DJ would be so emotionally attached to their current home???

You have to love PER and BNE's form, now is the time they shoud be contributing to the country by helping with infrastructure investment and taking advantage of the skills surplus, instead the clowns are crying poor! Maybe BNE airport should get rid of the personalised numberplates on the cars first.....
