Hi Folks;

Have just noticed updated June 09 Statistics for PER passenger traffic. By my rough calculations (no press release as of yet) the stats are as follows;

Month on Month increase
June 09;
International 214380 (vs 198667) approx increase 8%
Domestic 559315 (vs 540836) approx increase 3.6%

Not a bad set of results by global standards!

I was reading an article in The Aviation section of the Australian on Friday.

Airports fly against economic downturn

The Australian said:
PERTH airport is the latest to post fiscal-year growth figures that run counter to the prevailing doom and gloom, with a 6.1per cent rise in passenger numbers for the 2008-09 financial year.

The result comes after Melbourne airport earlier this week reported a 2.1per increase in passenger numbers for the past financial year and Brisbane airport earlier this month reported it had broken through the 19 million barrier to establish an annual record.

All the cheap fares??? The 2 for 1 specials???? Airlines are loosing revenue, but the airports are raking it in.

Perth has had a bunch of new services added over the last year from Jetstar, Pac Blue and Air Asia X. That would bump numbers up.

These numbers may be be "skew with" a little because of the recent visit from the US Navy. A large continency of partners flew in see there sailors in addition to change over in the crew roster. They all arrived on commerical flights.

I know many tourism operators had a poor June.
