Personal greetings from the cabin manager - what can you (realistically) ask for?

If I were to design the fantasy perfect welcome, it'd probably be the CSM/equivalent introducing themselves, saying their team and in particular [insertnamehere] will be looking after you and to let them know if you wanted anything else, and for [insertnamehere] to also briefly introduce themselves and handle everything else from that point. I'm happy with one or two hellos and apart from the regular service, to be left alone unless I want something.

That’s pretty much exactly what happens on Qatar Airways, in business anyway. They do it during the time when passages are coming in and have just seated themselves.

The CSM usually pops in again and an hour or two into a flight to check how things are going and if I need anything again.
 
When I hit gold and took a QF flight later that year in Y to AKL, the CSM surprisingly greeted me and we struck up a very small conversation (probably about 30 secs to a minute).

She asked if I needed anything and I politely advised that there wasn't anything, however mid-way through the flight, she brought over chocolates from NZ (Whittakers) and said that these would be a nice addition to start my trip.
 
Last week my daughters and I returned from skiing trips in Austria and Switzerland via Germany. Our return routing was FRA – LHR – SIN – PER, all in Y.

Due to a longer flight time on QF2 (LHR-SIN) the connection time to QF72 (SIN-PER) was significantly reduced and I was anticipating missing this flight and having to spend an extra night in Singapore. As we had separate bookings we needed to exit in SIN and get new boarding passes for our SIN-PER leg.

So when I received the greetings from one of the crew (not CSM but a senior flight attendant) as a WP, I explained my situation to her, she ensured immediate contact was made with the Qantas SIN team, and gave me regular updates during the flight. She then arranged for me to make contact at the QF SIN first class lounge to get my boarding passes.

The Qantas staff at the SIN first class lounge were also excellent, and got me the boarding passes I required, and then the PER baggage team coordinated the return of my luggage back to PER on subsequent flights because they didn’t make the connection (as expected).

This was the best service / support I have ever received onboard QF in 16 years of being WP – I sent a formal note of thanks to Qantas to recognise this cabin crew member. I have always found QF crews to be above average to excellent, but this was on another level.
 
On QFi if in Y and the CSM asks, I usually successfully ask for J headphones. Have also been proactively offered a glass of J sparkling. On QFd I've been served tea in a J cup and saucer rather than in the normal Y paper cup.
In J I've asked for tea in a Y paper cup - the tea cups they used in J really need to come with the tea pot they also provide in F.
 
First time in a long time received a personal welcome. Flying J on QF to AKL and CSM came up to to welcome me. Also brought me some extra chocolates inflight. Meals were also served per status, which I probably wouldn't have realised without previous mentions somewhere on this group. In fact 1A and 1E were served last. Last QF flight also J in November to JNB no interest shown at all.
 
EK does greetings as a Gold in economy?
Mrs Pineapple never rose above SG but never failed to get a greeting on EK. She never asked for anything and received it every time.

I've successfully asked for a cappuccino in QFi Y a couple of times.

Mid last year as a new Gold I got personally greeted by the CSM on BNE-AKL, a bit of a talk of the trip and then offered a meal choice as I was a bit far down the cabin (4A!) with a discussion on what was the better choice. That was new, unexpected and really appreciated.
Late last year as a new Platinum on MEL-AKL I don't recall getting anything special.
WP must really be W⚓'s :(
 
Recently flying on Emirates as a QF platinium on four separate flights in economy, there was no special greeting however on one occasion quite unexpectedly shortly into the flight I was offered an exit row seat at the front of the A380 as one was available as a thank you for being a frequent flyer with them (which tbh I am not, but obvs with oneworld).

Gratefully accepted the offer. Only to have the man next to me complain to the crew as he had been trying to get his mother in law in the row behind him moved next to him (but was told they would have to pay the standard fee). If he had asked me directly in a nicer manner I probably would have accepted the swap as she was in the aisle seat anyway which is comfortable enough for me. But he didnt and I kept my thoughts to myself that if he loved his MIL that much he could have offered her his bulkhead seat....
 
On a day time flight ftom Syd -Hkg in J when PJs are not given out, I asked and was given a set of PJs :)

Back when my wife was QF Platinum I asked the cabin manager to dispose of the Recliner sitting in front of me who’d Reclined into my face … he chucked ‘em out the airlock, was a good call!
 
My partner who is QF gold and was on a whY reward flight from SYD-BNE was given multiple mini bottles of wine as we were leaving the flight. He'd declined alcohol during the flight as we had to drive home. It was at least 6 bottles and a couple of cans of beer too, the flight attendant was stuffing them into our backpack! We had been chatting throughout the flight and he was telling us how he was counting down the days to his retirement. This was fairly recently

This reminds me of the old screechy "i pay your wages" routine when something doesn't go a passenger's way...
