Perks of QF WP when on EK?

For what it is worth I have an EK flight coming up next month BNE-SIN and it is wide open and I was pre-allocated 33C. I tried changing to 24G online and was not able to make the change. When I called them to link bookings they were able to pre-allocate 24G

Also on outbound flight I have somehow managed to pre-allocate bassinet 23D for wife and daughter or maybe EK have done that proactively. There is no way the system can put me in 23E. When I called they pre-allocated 24D for myself and hope we can change at check-in. Another lightly loaded flight of ~30%-40% load with less than a week to go.

So there are some glitches in the way things work but can fix most when calling.

That gives me an idea; I *might* be able to add a domestic QF leg to the end of the itinerary without much extra cost... we'll see...

Called them up just then and I was told it was not possible to add a domestic QF flight to the itinerary. The explanation was that even though the total milage remains within the same rewards zone, the original rewards was itinerary on EK, whilst adding a QF flight would make it a 'partner rewards'. I am not sure if I buy that explanation, but that is what I was given.

Forward cabin in A380 has lots of seat availability at the moment (showing in KVS), but I cannot select any of them on EK web site. I called them up again and I was told QF Plats should be able to access these seats but as my ticket is a rewards itinerary using Skyward miles, I am not eligible to select them. She further told me that my QFF number should not have even been added to the PNR as this is an entirely EK itinerary paid for using EK miles, and the QFF number might not remain on the PNR! I asked her politely whether she can leave it there and she said she would not touch it but now I an not sure! Why can they not get their story right? :-(

I can't select the mini cabin where row 17 starts either. Wasn't offered when I called. I'll try for exit row at check-in as I am now 3 for 3.

I was thinking of checking in online at T-48. Would it help?

I have never come close to my luggage allowance, but this time I need to cary quite a bit over the 30kg allowance. If I checkin online and see my QFF appear on the boarding pass, I presume things should be sweet? But I don't do it if it decreases my chance of airport staff not being able to change anything when I rock up to the airport.

As I posted, QF WP cannot select in forward economy rows any more - even on revenue bookings.

This last part beggars belief! I suspect "[Fake] Rules" are being made up here.

I have easily been able to add and remove my QF WP umber from an EK booking online.

so to clarify, I have booked an emirates reward ticket, using skyward rewards miles. I am blue in Skywards. The QF Platinum card will not grant me lounge access? darn...

What happens if you remove your EK number and add your QFF number in the MMB page?

It's weird. the Frequent flyer number for me is blank. One of the other passengers in the booking had my skywards number. So I went in and edited the other passengers frequent flyer details to Qantas, however I cannot update mine.

I managed to get the qf number entered via the mobile app. Let's see what happens when the boarding pass prints.

Only fly end Jan, so will be a little while

Yes it will. You will get access to the F lounge in DXB and other lounges on route.

So with the new seat charges, EK won't let me allocate my partner a seat next to me (preferred seat on the 777 and 380) - because they are seperate booking references (but origin and destination are the same, on same QF codes). I am WP and she is PS. EK agent tried to tell me this was QF's fault and QF would also not allow seating requests for TCP on QF metal. Pretty farcical.

We’ve had the issue on fully issued Qantas flights when in separate PNRs. Hell, Qantas even separated us when on the same PNR. I’d say it’s a combo.

Yes, I have been negotiating the separate PNR woes. I've selected my seat and will get Mrs_G's seat at T-48. No way am I paying.
