... Any glitches on the horizon? ...
Yep,

  1. the QP will probably be closed as no QF departure ex PER International until 12:25. It will open at around 10:25 for that flight.
  2. International QP's are departure lounges, so even if it was open there would normally be no admission rights in your situation.

I wouldn't hold my breathe getting out of PER international with the 0155 arrival. I did that for the first time last week, previously having always used the early am departure from SIN. EK and SQ have planes arriving at the same time as the late arrival and all the above are about half an hour behind a MH flight....... Hurry up and wait. In BOTH the immigration and customs lines. Sounds like a good application for the APEC card I keep reading about. OTOH I was in my flat by about 0330.

So if you don't hurry domestic might be open by the time you can actually get there.

I really don't see why Oz airports sh/would permit two flights from the same source airport to arrive within 30 minutes of each other.......... Let the airline bid for first arrival rights...... by at least 45 minutes

But I suppose it was cheaper than overnighting in Singapore.

Happy (jetlagged) wandering

PS Some days there are earlier international flights to JNB and HKG - just not on QF - though I think there are code shares - so the lounge would be open before 1025

Yeah - lots of snags.

The QCD said that as I was arriving airside I would be on the wrong level for the QC. No problem I said - I can work out how to walk upstairs.

She pointed out that I was not entitled to QC access upon arrival. No problem I said - I am happy to grovel.

She then informed me that the QC would be closed. Good comeback, says I.

I was then passed on to a helpful lass who backed up Fred .... there will be 3 flights arriving in quick succession so there will be quite a mob traipsing through C&I. Then the unfortunates like myself have to queue for the shuttle bus and be driven 14km (!!!) to the other side of the airport. She also informed me that the domestic terminal would be open, just everything inside will be shut until at least 04:00, with the QC opening at 04:30.

So .... what are my chances of elbowing aside the ship-people, scooting through the green channel, and getting a taxi to the casino and back? I can put my losings down as dinner and the back seat of the cab should be comfier than wandering aimlessly around an empty terminal.

I'm starting to think I should have stayed an extra night in Singapore ... frag!

The one bad point is the 01:55 to 05:50 visit to Perth airport.

My plan (based on your info) is to walk off QF78 and visit the international QC for a sit, shower and shandy. Then at some time between 04:00 and 05:00 I should clear customs and transfer across to the domestic terminal (by taxi at 04:00 or bus at 05:00) and spend any remaining time at the domestic QC.
I think most questions have been answered for you. My advice is to take your time to look through duty free and wait for the immigration queue to clear, collect luggage (which should already be waiting), and clear customs. Take taxi to domestic and check-in at 04:00am and be ready to enter Qantas lounge at 04:15am. Have some breakfast and see if you can spot anyone not flying to a mining town that morning.

For me this was an experiment I will not be repeating in any great hurry. Yes it was more points and SC's than other options but waiting around for 4 hours at that time of the morning is a killer.

The SYD-PER-SIN-BKK run was fantastic and I will atempt to do this again in the future. For return flights I would be better routing BKK-SIN-BNE/MEL-SYD. If I ever do the BKK-SIN-PER-SYD run again it will be with QF72 from SIN (morning flight) not QF78 from SIN (evening flight).
