Penfolds Grange

I wonder what a bottle of Kalimna Block 42 (2004) would go for duty free, given an RRP of $160K or so.

Don't know much about Grange but I saw the 2003 for sale at a wine shop on Broadway, Soho for $320 US last week.

Wow. Kind of weird the prices we are being asked to pay.. Especially when so much grange is cellared away these days.

I wonder if they take Everyday rewards. I hope the Airport countdown has the same special in a few weeks.

I took quite a few bottles of Penfolds Grange to the Perth clinic run by Treasury Wines today and had them re-corked seeing they were 30 plus years old. Great people, great advice and the work was done for my favourite price.
My stocks of Grange are now in great shape and I am very happy with the service.
The 707 is still my top Penfolds drop.

I have limited experience with the re cork arrangement. However my only experience was less than auspicious with the wine having definitely turned and frankly very disappointing. Despite a certificate to the contrary.

Only one of the many bottles was "corked" and they replaced it with a current vintage. Well done Penfolds!
I got dust for my Hill Of Grace failure so I avoid it now.

To the poster a couple of pages back looking at buying a bottle or 2 of the current to drink now - sacrilege (and will be disappointing as needs a decade plus to integrate).

I have 1983 to 1999 laid down and stopped buying after that when they produced in 2000 for $400 a bottle when the vintage was poor.

Drunk a few double ups specially purchased for years when the kids were born (when they turned 18 & 21 to celebrate surviving being a parent).

Was well worth the wait - absolute heaven, especially the 1990 :)

Thinking of selling the rest now to help pay the final years of their time at home.

Anyone interested, drop a pm for a AFF discount.
