Yes, i think that's the reality. However i (and others) were initially advised that it had been cancelled. If not, then it's not really an issue.
 
When I called up at 6:00am on 5 August, I was told that 4 August was the end of advertising date for the Taster - although I was using the Velocity site PE Taster Upgrade page (still active today) to double-check costs before I called. Presumably there's a bit of a delay in the DJ <=> Velocity communications.

Perhaps VA are watching this thread and decided not to take down the Velocity page, given it's been linked to here? :cool:
 
Booked a PE Taster tonight with no problem at all. Was advised that it will finish end of month.

I am not sure of what secret DJ1D had (i am curious?!) but i have a little one also.
VA have given me numerous PE tasters on normal blue saver fares because I am Vel Gold. (tonights PE Taster was from a base fair)
these have been available thorugh points (3900 BNE-SYD or $35) I haven't travelled economy for 9 months! will be sad when it is over :(
I also always received full SC's (J) for the trips too!

Yes, I have just checked my Velocity account and noted that even as a humble Velocity Red I was credited 40 SCs for SYD-BNE on a PE taster. That's certainly not what I was expecting.

Wish I knew that before I bought a load on flexi tickets that I have no intention of "flexing"! :-|

I feel yoour pain danielbro, I only found out by accident 6 months ago on a BNE-MEL-SYD booking and only my MEL-SYD was flexible. I called for a PE upgrade for MEL-SYD and she offered to UPG the SYD-BNE as well, I said it wasn't a flex flight and she replied "oh, that doesn't matter because your gold". Best words I ever heard! must of done at 20 discount flights since on PE Tasters!
 
Wonder how it will go being an NZ Gold and wanting to U/G my connecting Virgin BNE-TSV flight? I have a few points with DJ, how many do I need to UG? Also, has anyone had any luck with a weekend flight U/G?
 
Has anyone been able to do this upgrade after checking in? Thought I might try for my flight tonight. Of course, the website has no PE available for sale, so I'm probably wasting my time.

I'm sitting in the lounge at the moment in Melbourne. My flight to OOL was totally full - no PE taster upgrade available. I called the Gold Desk and asked again if there was anything availalable. They said there was nothing there, but they would put a note in my booking so the lounge could check if anything was free.

When I arrived I mentioned this and they said they would check. 5 paid PE fares, 3 upgrades - me being one of them.

So I would guess it's worth calling the Gold Desk and seeing if they can help you out. Not sure if the "note" in the booking made a difference or not, but it certainly didn't hurt. ;)
 
The PE loadings during my flights this week were quite high, so word is out!

The main thing for Virgin is, 1) they are filling the seats, and 2) Most valuable customers are happy. The system can't loose!
 
Did the PE upgrade the other night, quite happy as it was a short CBR SYD and I want the status to keep gold.

But, nothing from the menu loaded only the CBR Connect free stuff - no biggie as I just wanted starus and she found me a sandwich.

Then, I realize we're the only ones in premium (row 3) and I had been unable to choose the forward row. People non-premium had been able to check into row 1 and 2 (first row on ejet) before I could upgrade. I really don't get VA seat assignment.

I'll do it again tonight though, I don't want to lose gold right when VA start being great.

PS - not sure if this has been said, but non-status pax on same saver PNR was upgraded too.
