Hi All,

I'm looking at coming up at about 120SCs short of my WP retention at the end of August on my current trajectory (work having wound back travel significantly) and am looking at options. One of the things that came to mind was a PC booking during a (potential) DSC purchase window.

I'm pretty new to the whole PC earning SCs malarky - in fact I just stumbled on the relative "bargain nature" of this during a recent award trip MEL-PER-MEL, especially given the cost of revenue fares right now - so please excuse any newbee questions.

Does anyone know for sure whether/not an award booking during a DSC purchase period will attract DSC earn? Looking at the conditions for PC SC earn, these SCs *are* eligible for all the standard bonus categories: lifetime status earn etc but I'd like to know if anyone has a definitive answer.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

BD

In the past they have been. Hopefully this continues!!

yeah they count for DSC as they end up being SC earning flights so meet the rules for DSC per all past promotions. Obviously QF could change the terms for any future promos, but I doubt it tbh.

rembering of course any rewards bookings need to be on QF operated flights to earn the qualifying SC in the first place (but that is usually the case to earn DSC anyway).

And QF marketed - only for the small handful of classic rewards that book on QF codeshare
true, but aside from that rare period when some QF/EK codeshares applied for DSC, QF codeshares generally don't - or haven't for a very long time - been valid for DSC promos. Of course who knows what the next one (if/whenever there is one) will look like.

Ah very good point! Would love another DSC promo which works for SYD-CHC on QF flight number on EK metal!

OT but on those tags into NZ usually J and F could be quite empty and the bar area was usually bare. On the return sectors though they could get a bit rowdy at th bar. I do remember one time doing AKL-BNE and it was just a friend and I in F(!) - she soaked up that shower big time (they gave er extra given the lack of pax) and well the service was, as you can imagine, amazing.

those were the days..... (and such a nice little earner too - specially when F was on sale).

OK please excuse me, I'll be in my rocking chair remembering the good ol' days....

That is a trip I hope to book this year on a DSC

Well I booked SYD-MEL-WLG-MEL-SYD on last year's DSC finally flying it next week, but then of course the schedule changed so put on direct flights and will have to start process of chasing the ORCs with DSCs - of course have to wait until the DSCs post or 6 weeks whatever comes first.

In you're case, it was probably blessing in disguise if you can do the shorter run but earn he same? A bit different if you specifically book a sector or two in an A380 and got subbed a 737 :(

Have you done the Green Tier for an easy 50 SCs?

Thanks SYD. Must admit it hadn't crossed my mind ... off to find my spend on carbon offsets, though I can't see me sticking solar on the roof as a "easy get" .. :)

Save you reading all this:

If you have zero leaves? Then it's easy to get 4 of 5 leaves in the space of about 48 hrs. The hardest one is (1) that flying offset - in so much as you need to do a booking but if the offset sticks, then the leaf arrives about 48 hrs after payment. So try and do that FAO. Make sure the offset is > $1 paid in cash for more reliable green thumb work.

The rest are easy *but* keep one of these until closer to your anniversary. You have 90 days to chose your reward, so that could be this membership year or next (depending on whether you made it over the line, you may then be able to take a 50 SC head start next year).

I'd (2) probably save offsetting your Tassie holiday house until last - can use either cash or points.

Do (3) the QF Wellbeing app quiz ASAP for a free leaf.

You may want to wait and see if there's a general QF shopping discount and then do (4) the charity thing. It can only be paid with 3200 points and no option to pay cash for the $25 equivalent.

Note (5) "Make your Rewards Store delivery climate positive" can be combined with (2) or (4). Just add it to you shopping basket with one of the others.

Yes for me, in the latest promo, flew in October.

Oh it is a blessing from a travel duration pov but a 737 regardless,.

QF don't Fly A380 from SYD to NZ as far as I know, and i don't think WLG runway is long enough for a A380 anyway.

Ah, no. It was more general comment pulling the thread on earlier comments about flying EK ex AKL/CHC.

And I would love a DSC on QF codeshare flight no on EK metal to /from Dubai for my next trip to visit Seat Son.

I agree. We already have solar and I can’t see how green tier adds up for my situation.
