Hi , I recently managed to obtain four QF award seats from Frankfurt to Melbourne with Qatar Airways however when I went to finalise the booking and pay the taxes/charges I received credit card error: 4620 “We are having difficulty with the credit card details provided. Please validate the credit card information in your profile and try again.”
Despite trying multiple credit cards and clearing my PC cache the error persisted. I then continued to refresh the booking in order to not lose the award seats and phoned Qantas and was confronted with a 4 hour wait time ( is this for real ??!! ).
Needless to say I could not spend hours refreshing the booking and hold on the phone, consequently I gave up and the award seats were gone. I called the QF call back service and 4 hours later when they called me, much to my relief the award seats were being held for me and I made a manual over the phone payment.
I was not able to ascertain from the phone call what the credit card problem was. I have a theory that I had Amex card details save in my profile and tried to pay first with Visa but even when I tried to pay with Amex it still failed.
Is it normal for failed payment seats to be held ? How can I avoid this situation in the future ?
regards all,
