Paying Citi Gold VIsa

I wanted to pay cash into my Citi Gold Visa. So I found the one and only MEL location and went in. I asked where the tellers were so I could pay my credit card account. I was told that Citi does not have retail banking in Australia so they have no branches where I could pay my credit card. I could go to a post office but would be charged $2 for the privilege of paying off my credit card or they suggest I BPAY.

I guess I just got back to the country and am shocked. But moving on...... is there any way to deposit cash into the credit card account other than the $2 post office way or depositing it into a bank account and then BPaying?

There used to be a retail branch in Chatswood, NSW but don't think it is there anymore..

I went down to the local Post Shop to pay it (and swallow the $2 fee) - the guy at the counter gave it back to me and said they don't charge extra!!!!

It will probably end up on your next Visa account as a Citi charge (although, I don't own a Citi card, so can only go by experiences with other cards)

I suspect this will be the case. AustPost charges Citibank a fee, rather than the person paying the bill.

Just pay with a Citi deposit book (which you would have received in the package) at any NAB branch.

No fee, no fuss.

Not really these days - many of the credit card companies that don't have a strong retail presence (like American Express, etc.) do a similar thing.

I've arranged Direct Debits - these are usually easiest for me as I pay in full each month, and it comes out on the last day, so I get the full interest free period.

Not that this is much help if you really want to pay cash to Citibank.

Forget Citi branches (just sales offices, not banks!) and use your Citi deposit book (call the call centre and request another if you need it). Take the deposit book and your cash to a NAB branch and deposit using the Citi slip. I think it's termed a Citiplus account.

That's it. No fuss and no fees.

I don't recall seeing any fee from AusPost deposits anyway.


An even simpler way, if you can do it, is to set up a free Citi savings account and then have your salary credited to it. You will have to set up another user ID but under the new ID you can view both your savings account and credit (card) account.

Then just pay your card from your savings account, online.
No fees, withdrawals from any ATM without fees. Easy.

Thanks - I don't believe I received a deposit booklet with my card - I will try and call and get another one mailed to me.

I can immediately t/fer $ from the savings a/c to the CC when required.

I figure you could pay the card balance at any NAB with a normal deposit slip.

I mixed myself up- the deposit book is for the Citi Plus account rather than the Citi Gold card.

Either way you should be able to pay at any NAB branch as long as you have all the account numbers.

OK that sounds more likely. So I can just go into a NAB branch and give them my CIti Visa card number as an account number and deposit cash?

You may be surprised to learn that cash exists in the big wide world out there.

I have used it on occasion - I guess it is a long time since I was paid in cash. Similarly the vast majority of organisations I have worked with refuse to pay in cash. Cheques are a thing of the past as well for me
