Pay Points to Extend Qantas Status

Missed out on three tours / flights/ accommodation due to spinal operation during start of 2025 which would have extended my Q Platinum membership; cancellation refunds will pay for tours of Morocco, Italy, Austria and Romania . Sadly none will accrue within my membership year. Spent 260000 QFF points on a glorious 7 days in Trieste in late 2024, so will not be receiving an offer. Back to building SC and points

I suggest contacting Qf and explaining that you could not travel for medical reasons and they may be nice.

Anyone got a recent data point on this ? I am on 985 and about to drop from WP, 1035 if I add the green tier points. I’ve been plat since 2015 and wouldn’t actually be all that bothered if last year’s travel patterns had persisted, especially as I’m 150 away from LTG. Only now I probably have 4 or 5 trips to Japan in the next year and plat is something I value for the lounge and the airport experience in Tokyo. Points just pile up and I’m almost never able to spend them. Even if it’s more than 120k I’d probably do it.

When should I call to request a status extension? Should I redeem the 50 from green tier or hold them for a bump next year?

I got the offer to retain via email, about 2 weeks before the membership end. 730SC, was 13 months ago. I probably also have 10 years of WP. Based on that:
1. I would keep the 50SC green tier for the new year (assuming you hope to achieve WP next year)
2. I would call 10 days prior membership renewal.

Now, you may consider using your green tier this year, and do a status run. 115 SC is not that much, and there is strong evidence of a DSC starting in the coming days. That way, with your planned trips to Japan, you may reach 600 SC or more for next year, which theoretically put you in a position to get the paid extension offer, for another WP year.
