Hi everyone, I am currently looking at credit cards and want to apply one that allows me to pay with my rent (BPAY) without fee and earn points.
As far as I know, with Amex you would need to use app like Sniip to pay, which has surcharge, but you get points.
I heard that Anz Qantas credit card allows you to pay with BPay, and also can earn points. But I am wondering whethet it has surcharge.
Can anyone help me to confirm ?
The biller code ir 4481.

Also does anyone know other credit cards that can pay with BPay and get points?

Thank you.

Cards generally exclude earn via BPay in their terms and conditions. Whether these are enforced is another story but if you're successful, I recommend keeping it off public forums.

For the record I didn't have much luck earning points with ANZ cards and things they excluded (eg government bodies).

However, you can generally earn points when using payment processors (eg. Beem it, paypal). But some people have had trouble with beem lately.

Yes, I have been paying my rent (also 4481) for 3 years using ANZ Qantas credit cards and earning points with no extra fee/surchage. As far as I know, so long as it says in the BPAY page that your biller accepts payments from credit card, it is all good.

I would also like to know of any other card that works the same way.

Not aware of any QF-earning cards with uncapped earn rates that will do better than the ANZ black

If you can pay rent by BPAY and the BPAY merchant accepts Credit Card via. BPAY, then that is the best option.

If not, then your only option is Sniip.

😎 Cool thanks for your help. I will be using bpay code 4481. Also is there any transactions fee on sniip. I have used beem it before will that work with anz credit card.

4481 is DEFT Payment System and they accept payments from credit card, you can pay directly from your ANZ Black.

Just an update, it also works with NAB credit cards, moved from ANZ Black to NAB Signature almost a year ago and have been paying my rent with it since then. ANZ Black is still better due to the higher cap per statement, will go back to it end of this year.

have you tried with ANZ at all? i wonder if bpay payments help to accumulate points?

interesting, just called up ANZ and they say that BPAY is excluded from reward points accumulation :/
The thing is that it depends on the biller, you have to go to BPAY’s website and check using the biller code if the biller accepts credit card, if they do, it will go like any other purchase in your credit card, if not, it will go as cash advance and, in that case, you won’t earn points on top of paying cash advance fee and interest. I have also paid ATO via BPAY using both ANZ and NAB and earned points without any fee or interest many times.

Edit.: tried Westpac with Services NSW and it didn’t work, didn’t pay any fee but didn’t earn points.

Is it getting close to pure arbitrage on rent?

If I use sniip to pay BPAY 4481 (rent), on my Amex Plat I earn 2.25 points, and pay 1.29% including GST.

On a $100,000 rent bill, it's $1,290 to earn 227,902 points.

Those membership rewards can give me $1,135 in gift card value ... so the true out of pocket is $155.

Is this right?

(and if it was rent on a business property, then the tax deductibility on the fees is greater?!)

It s not right. The moment you spend your point for GC, it s just not right from there.
