Or Macquarie, heck Citibank! Customer service is a strong point for both. They could sell all that personal info to third parties just like their Credit Card department.

Adult (16 and over) $277
Child under 16 $139
Optional for persons 75 and over $139
Frequent Traveller Passport (subject to availability) $407

Priority processing fee will increase to $183

A very nice Xmas present, NOT!

Current one; 67 pager 3 and a bit years old 5 empty pages left so if they keep the large one ~$120 a year but if they get rid of it the smaller one takes me to ~$150

Just had a look on Aust Passport Office website.
Edit: and generally, aye, expensive, and also, Aust does not stamp Aust citizen passports on entry or exit into and out of Aust, a lot of people use Smartgate.
Aust passports should not change in price, but should be expensive for those who loose their passports, not for run of the mill people like us, who keep our passports safe.
My Aust passport only has got 5 stamps, and many empty pages, 5 years old now...
My trips are to NZ where they don't stamp Aust passports either.
This govt sees passports as a money making venture, ala the PMC (Pax Movement Charge).
I use Smargate all the time so what am I paying so high a charge for the PMC for? Just for the ABF officer to watch me as I place my passport on the photocopier like glass plate on exit Smartgate from Aust???
They don't even collect OPC (Outgoing Pax Cards) themselves anymore.

I paid a bit more for my UK jumbo passport (just over £100?), including a 4-hour turnaround service (while-you-wait) at the Peterborough passport office. Pity Australia can't do something similar.

So time for a new passport and today I got my photos done. A lot less hair than the last one and my beard has gone grey.

As for the process, well I filled out the form on line, have printed it out and made an appointment for tomorrow morning.

At least I don't need a guarantor for a renewal.

Well I had the first appointment today for my passport renewal and five minutes and $277 later I left with my cancelled passport.

It helped that the bloke reviewing my form had taken the photos yesterday so they were ok.

However, the cost of photos themselves are a bit of a rort. $16.95 for six photos when you only need two.

Now to see when it arrives. On line reports suggest the three weeks is the usual time and since I'm not travelling until 21 Feb there shouldn't be a problem.

The main issue with delivery is that they only send it to your physical street address rather than a PO Box. This means I'll get the card advising that it is available and then have to go back to the post office to collect it.

When will this occur do you know and from what current fee ($277?) to what new fee?

Or are you referring to the fee increase which occurred on Jan 1?

Mine is due for renewal in about 4 months time. So it may be worthwhile doing it early.

We take our own passport photos now with a simple digital camera...there are free online tools that make sure it fits the required dimensions...than we take it to the local Officeworks to print it for 50c

That is quite a saving kpc as long as you don't buy something when you visit Officeworks.

What annoys the F out of me if we have a PO Box in town K, which is 2klms north and we go to every day, you know... for extra security.

Post guy takes our passport/other items that "have" to be delivered to house address to town S, which is 2.5klms south. We dont shop here, dont go here.
