I have no idea as to the answer, looking at a ticket at the moment KKE-AKL-MEL, and I have SQ * gold status.

Looking at NZ marketed ticket, operated by VA, on the AKL-MEL sector. I know VA gold members will get access to the NZ AKL lounge on the flight, does anyone know if VA partner gold members get this access as well ?

If not, if I overnight in AKL and take NZ metal the next morning, will definitely get access. Also means tossing up between VA 737 and NZ 777 (with 10 across), both options not terrific really.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with VA. The way I look at it, if you're travelling on an NZ marketed flight and you have *A Gold status, you get lounge access. Is that not the case?

By the way, is it possible to go KKE-WLG-MEL? If so, you might be able to fly with SQ on the TT leg.

Star alliance generally operates based on operating carrier. If travelling as an SQ gold, say on an SQ codeshare on a non star alliance carrier (eg MH, AS) I'm pretty sure no lounge access is granted. I am not even sure if SQ *G on booked directly on VA code on VA metal across the Tasman would get access to NZ lounge!

Thought of that (KKE-AKL-WLG-MEL), but timing of flight wastes my Saturday .... am just passing through MEL on the way to SIN and only have the weekend, so not an option.

Yes - just checked and you're correct. I didn't realise that before now. So you won't get access based on having *A Gold.

They wouldn't. The agreement between SQ and VA is that KF Golds get access to "Virgin Australia operated lounges in Australia", nothing else.

Fair enough!

Never mind, Priority Pass access to Strata Lounge in international terminal will do.

I'd still try it. SQ Gold, NZ lounge, NZ flight number, VA operated, it all looks right. Depending how well the agents know their rules you might get in.
