Hi all,

Family doing the road trip in England countryside and so far the Golf Diesel doing the job at $1.35pound a litre!
Using the Giffgaff sim in the phone working well.
Was informed that in each town it seems there is paid parking everywhere at different rates...currently in Cornwell....
Any tips tricks/apps to get the best deal or avoid parking fees please?

No apps etc for me in August except stayed in central area of towns (car left at hotel etc) and walked everywhere.
There are some towns with parking at the periphery with frequent buses going into the old/medieval areas e.g. York
Usually googled parking options prior to visiting each town, apart from the attractions to visit

Cornwall (Southern England small towns generally) and summer and Parking should not be used in the same sentence...
You will be lucky to find a park and gladly pay 5pounds per hour for it if you do....
Unless things have changed.

Park and Rides like York, Bath and other places are the best thing ever.

Use the Park and Ride service in Cambridge. Medieval town developers did not factor in car parking.

All the above comments apply. All you can do is grin and pay. The Brits seem to just accept parking fees stoically as a part of living. We were in Whitby today and the parking machine wasn't accepting cash - only cards (or ring a number) - accepted my card without even asking for a pin.

However, you are in the UK at the best time of year - weather not too hot or cold and not many tourists.
