Parking cars - drive in or reverse in?

And also imagine if you had a pusher rather than a trolley. Nightmare
Oh. I was there on Wednesday in fact. I parked away from everyone and in a single park. Front in. Coz there is a pusher to stow. And they are huge.

Two thoughts:

1) Reverse parking is not appropriate when it is 45 degrees and to reverse park requires driving the wrong way in the one-way lane. Yet it not unusual to see drivers doing this.

2) Shopping trolley return bays are basically on the side of the boot when the car is driven into the parking spot. Therefore, where a reversing driver has obtained a trolley without inserting a coin it can be argued they're more likely to leave it on the footpath with an increased possibility of it causing damage when it rolls onto a car, or even a person.

At the very least the abandoned trolley clutters up the footpath.

I often have trouble walking between cars because of the way some idiots park let alone getting a trolley through if I reverse in.

But hey the non drivers know best

Will have to snap photos tomorrow but I assure you, getting trolley to boot is always an option, even when inconsiderates park crooked, at worst you maybe walk one car down and come in from the back.

Don't need a license to take a trolley to the boot.

Well pushers (dug dealers) can usually walk!

Disabled spots and the deducated spots for those with prams or strollers are wider than the normal spots to assist with loading and unloading.

Well, I can only say rubbish to that. Crooked isnt the issue. It's jamming their car against your boot.

There is also a wcmo element to this topic ; all too often I find cars parked off centre in car parks and to get in I must also park on the diagonal….leads to.. returning half an hour alter to find that the original miscreants have left, order is restored save for my conveyance which is now a round peg among a row of square holes….

45 degree parking is rare in Sydney, most shopping centre, council and paid parking stations are 90degree. Also as trolley wheels lock if you take them outside shopping centre or their car park, so leaving outside on footpath not likely as wheels would jam long before get to street parking

It is laziness or selfishness that determines whether trolleys are returned not backing in.

LOL rare, if you park correctly you can leave sufficient room from boot to the line, for there to be no room the jerk who drove in the spot behind would have to be over the line. And yes when you see cars over the line they have usually driven in, in haste too lazy to straighten up.

Only needs to happen once and you won’t do it again. 😉

No winners here 😅. Just now. But apparently a rare occurrence. Guess I’m lucky today. Neither boot can open. Both backed in.

,,,
Thanks for proving my post ...::D
If on return I can't access the rear hatch due to a vehicle behind, I just move the car forward a metre - still within the marked park area .... simples.
(As an aside, If the car on the left was mine it would have been within the actual parking bay ... just ...)

Gosh. Who woulda thought that!

Well the car on the left is in the wrong, proves the owner of that car is a jerk. Does nor prove backing in is unsafe or inferior to driving in.

I can tell you that you are very wrong. There have been many times that I could not get a trolley past. And try doing it at Bunnings when you have bought bags of potting mix and bark chips.

Have you ever tried putting a pram through a door? 🤣. Hmm. Will this pram squish between the two toddler seats. I guess I don’t have to worry about that. I can’t get it through a door.

They go in the boot. Which requires quite a lot of boot access. From experience. 😉

Again. There’s no right or wrong here. We do what works at the time. It’s called flexibility or adapting to the situation. A handy skill.

Never said anything about putting a stroller through a door you made that up all on your own, but you generally open the door then load kid into the car seat, that is why the spots are wider.

All I can say is the drivers in my local area are far more considerate and I have never not been able to get the trolley to the boot in over 20 years of shopping at the same supermarket.

Never have an issue, when cars are parked properly in centre of the spot (not on the line) there is always room on the non pole side to push trolley between cars to the back, load boot then walk trolley back to the bay.
No! I need to use this safe space to call out that pushing a trolley between cars in a standard car park is not acceptable. Doesn’t need an RAM or 4wd to make the space limiting. Explains the scratches down the side of my car.

Disagree I have never scratched anyone's car with a trolley, given there is ample room only someone who deliberately wanted to scratch a car would.
