Paid seat selection - how broken is it?

I was attempting to sort out seats for my parents MEL-LHR.
I selected various seats, but got into a state where I couldn't clear seats for a particular flight, so I used the back button to drop back to the landing page.
Now it seems they have the seats but I cannot pay for them.
I'm trying to avoid the call center because I'll likely have to get mum to ring and they booked to TA so may have further issues dealing with the call center.
Is there any easy resolution to this? I've no experience with SQ.
