I have a layover in HKG in September, then am back in HKG a week later for a few days. I'm flying CX all the way in PE which doesn't have lounge access. Does anyone have any comments/suggestions on the paid lounges in HK? Is it worth it?

How long is your Layover? WHat time of day?

Hong Hong is a great places to spend a few hours, especially with an ~AU$17 day return train trip available at 24 minutes each way between the airport and the Island.

Only a few hours - but I have a week there on the way back for a conference.

A couple of years ago I bought my sister a package of some sort at the Plaza Premium Lounge as she was transiting through HKG around the time of her birthday. I can't remember exactly which package it was but she said that she enjoyed it a lot - the massage was great and she said she liked the food. I've never been in myself but I gather it would be a good lounge to use if you have some spare time. Particularly as you'll have time to go to Hong Kong afterwards, then it might be nice to just shower, have a massage and have some food in the lounge.

Hello,
I went through HKG last month with some hours between flights.
On the way I had 4-5 hours coming in from SYD in the evening and paid for the Plaza Lounge (about $40) I wanted a hot shower and some quiet time, I had to wait 1.5 hours for a shower, it was not that quiet really busy actually and then also booked a massage, about $40 extra which was excellent. Food is below average and there are only local beers and soft drinks available. This is nowhere near a Qantas/BA business lounge! So it depends what you are really wanting?

On the way back I had 7 hours during the day so opted to go to Hong Kong Island, via the train, fast clean and you can leave your case at HKG so no luggage. Loads to do, great foods and short tours.

Second thoughts if you are flying Qantas why not see if you can buy a Lounge Pass on ebay, something I did not know but picked up from this forum (they normally sell for $40-50), QF have a great lounge over there and as long as you are flying QF it should be no problem - however I do stand to be corrected by more senior guys who 'know the ropes' better than I do.

Hope this helps

Travellers lounge is ok in my opinion. A few airlines also use it as their contract lounge.

Flying out of HKG in July I used the Traveller's Lounge (West Hall) - I had been out exploring for the day and wanted to freshen up for a night flight.

For around US$50 I got a package that had 2 hours of lounge access, which included a shower and a bonus 15 minute chair massage (only available if you were a walk in, not if you had pre-booked).

It wasn't crowded at all when I went, I was able to book my massage and shower straight away, then relaxed and had a meal.

It's not that cheap, but when you're connecting (and in economy) sometimes it's worth the investment in a hot shower!

Plaza Premium East Hall near Gate 1 is where you want to head. Nice atmosphere, comfortable seats, noodle bar (beer is free in the fridge all other alcohol payable).

Use Priority Pass if you can which will give you access and a shower inclusive otherwise price list here: http://www.plaza-network.com/images/pricelist/TTLE.jpg

Nicer than the QF J Lounge IMO
