This is is the one I have and are quite light weight: [h=1]Packing Cell v2[/h]
Every other week they are on special at Kathmandu say 3 for $25, so you can see and handle them to see if they are for you. I use different size and coloured ones. The biggest one is only used for long trips to places needing everything from Arctic to tropics clothes.

What are these and where do you get them?

They are space saving bags. You put your clothes, towels or such in them, seal and then roll down towards the end and push the air out, just like when packing up a sleeping bag or such. The air stays out and make the items smaller. You can get versions to use with vacuums, but they are not always available where you are so the roll up ones are great. I know you can get one kind at Bunnings, otherwise there is always eBay (and that one will give you Velocity points as well). Like these ones:

Link for packing cubes pls?

Got a few at eBay, the cheap ones are ok if you want to do a trial, but they arent very good:

When you say they aren't very goos what is the problem with them?

They made of a nylon material and are a bit flimsy. They are light and thin and that might be a perk if you are looking at weight, but its like packing in plastic bags with zippers. I would probably go for one that is a bit sturdier next time, one where the sides of the cube stands up by itself and actually encloses the items even if they are open. On these ones, the sides falls down if not zipped up.

Thanks for the link to the vacimm bags.

Thanks for the tip! Exactly what I was just about to start looking for, given BA-BA/IB no longer interlines (even thought my tickets were booked well ahead of the announcement). Can pack one of these in my bag and then check it in on the way back to the UK as we have an overnight stopover on the way home, therefore can expand into it. Nice and cheap on eBay (~$7.20 AUD).

Large Waterproof Folding Weekend Travel Luggage Bag SHOULDER HOLDALL HANDBAG | eBay

This has worked absolutely brilliantly for us on this trip. Folded down to nothing and came across in a suitcase with us going out - now filled up with our dirty washing and has been checked in (with our carry-on, just easier so we only have to take our backpacks onboard) without issue on all legs since. Interestingly the first leg it was checked in (LIM-AQP) they put a tie cable through it to keep it closed, but on all subsequent legs (also LATAM) they haven't. Haven't had any issues with it opening or splitting though, so all good! Not bad for just over $7.
