Btw were you looking at QF long haul flights only? Premium cabins? I'm guessing that 5 Y seats on the domestic triangle wouldn't be too hard to get

I also just got my 3rd P1 Year re-qualification pack for 2016 and my goodness I thought the life time gold pack was underwhleming! this sets a whole new standard!

I suspect the bag boys n gals would probably prefer a slab or two of beer but it's a good thought.

I think it's the new "subtle status" type deal. The less exciting it looks and the less fanfare there is, the more valuable it is. I mean have you seen how gaudy those Silver and Gold packs look?

When I originally qualified to P1 (2011) they had flight simulator opportunities in SYD & MEL, it was a published benefit, in 2012 I did the B747 sim in SYD, so I thought I'de do the MEL B737 sim this year, about 6 months ago I had a call from the SST congratulating me on re-qualifying for P1, asked if there was anything they can do, So I asked for B737 sim in MEL, great I thought, they said they would get back to me, about an hr later, confirmed! Booked in, made sure I was sure of the date as I cannot change this date as this gets booked real quick & I said, yep, I'm keen for that date, great!

So I'm booked in for the 31st March, about 2 months ago, I emailed the SST asking if they had any further details, my email stated MEL numerous times, SST replied & said they would email a week out from the simulator date with more info, sweet I'm thinking.

Fast forward to yesterday, get an email with this info, IT'S IN SYDNEY!!!!! Flights booked to MEL, hotel booked in MEL,was going to fly to MEL just for the B737 sim.

I replied asking what was going on, as I was booked into MEL not SYD. Got an email back today saying they don't do the flight sim in MEL anymore, haven't for 2 years, yet every piece of communication between the SST MEL was discussed. I was very disappointed as I was taking my Mother with me to the flight sim, I wasn't interested in the B747 sim in SYD again, I mentioned i was interested in the A380 if that was on offer, but of course not!

A P1 fail as I didn't know they didn't offer the MEL B737 sim to anyone anymore. Certainly didn't see that memo & i bet neither did the SST as someone should have mentioned this to me before hand, or read e-mails properly.

No real apology & they kinda made it feel like it was my fault, but yet emails back & forward all had MEL in them.

When I did the simulator was told it's once-only benefit for P1s. Nice to see they now allow to do it again.

When I fitst hit P1 (2014) the call I got to welcome me to P1 included invite for the 737 Sim and IIRC they said SYD, but that's by the by - I declined (I have my reasons). Obviously not offered again (and that's OK with me). Have never received a call to "congratulate" me for requalifying for P1 though. Guess the accounts cha-ching ding didn't go off for my spend
