Overhead bin/locker sizes?

Why don't you just buy a good airline proof box to put the camera gear in and check it on...

Or as an alternative, buy an extra seat for the gear. If it is so important that you carry it (for insurance or to make sure it is available), and you need it for work, then you need to accept that TINSTAAFL, and pay for the extra seat. That way you can put the gear in a seat beside, you, not worry about it being oversized or overweight, and avoid the wrath of munitalP and the many other passengers who can bring carry on which complies with the requirements.

I have done that in the past when carrying gear that won't fit in the overhead locker or when I have to take more than one bag of camera gear. Not all airlines allow this though unfortunately. I do try to minimise the amount of carry on gear that I have to try to avoid inconveniencing others, I can still get images without a laptop so that is usually checked in.

My new Travelpro 22" carry-on is exactly 56cm x 36cm x 23cm (the limit).. I wonder if I will have any problems?

Will this be a tight fit?
