Qantas has started offering "care packs" for home delivery to clear excess stock of business class pyjamas, amenity kits and other goodies. Each pack contains:

  • 1 Qantas Business Class sleeper suit L/XL (suitable for most shapes and sizes)
  • 1 Qantas Curates Business Class amenity kit featuring ASPAR Travel Essentials (Sweet Orange & Shea Hand Cream, Ultra Hydrating Face Moisturiser & Sweet Orange Lip Balm)
  • 12 individually wrapped Tim Tams
  • 200gram pack of smoked almonds (served in Qantas First Class)
  • Packet of 10 T2 Lemongrass and Ginger tea bags
Each Qantas Frequent Flyer member may order up to 10 packs to be sent anywhere in Australia - either to yourself or to a friend doing it tough in the current lockdown. Each pack costs $25 or 4,350 Qantas points including delivery, and you can order on the Qantas Rewards Store.

Seems like a great idea! Anyone buying a pack?

Yes - I'm going to buy a couple (using cash not points!) I think its quite a clever idea and I know 2 people who will really really love them!

Shows just how little it costs the airline to provide these little extra in J.

Two counterpoints:

1. It is possible that Qantas is selling this stuff at or near-cost, in order to reduce its storage costs. With no/little flying on the horizon, the alternative at this point would be to simply give it away.
2. Airlines are businesses of scale. Even if the cost of one pair of PJs is low, the cost adds up when producing tens of thousands.

But yes, the marginal cost per passenger of providing things like amenity kits is probably quite low.

Nice! It's not bad value at all.

25 bags of the T2 tea at Coles is $16 - so there's $6.40 of T2 tea bags.
Pack of 11 Tim Tams is $3.65
Nuts - a couple of dollars
Plus whatever the amenity kit + PJ's are worth
And free postage

I ordered 2 packs. I like the PJ's so will be good to have some extra pairs in rotation.

The link in post one doesn’t seem to be working on my phone, but is that packet of nuts looks like 20gm (not 200gm in Matt’s post 2 - which is normal in J?

Desperate times call for desperate measures 😦

I still have a couple of EY ones in their original packaging that I haven't gotten around to opening as my multiple QF/VS/VA/EY ones that I've been using for years are still going strong. So I wont be buying but they would make a nice gift.

EY stopped giving J PJs out ages ago.

The QF and EY ones are hardly top quality, but seem to last a hell of a lot longer and don't shrink or go sack like unlike the VS and VA ones.

A general error occurs after your credit card is verified and prevents purchase - anyone else having this problem? The took the $1 though!
