Hi fellow frequent flyers.

I have an unusual request from our Director.

When travelling recently he really enjoyed a song which was played on one of the IFE audio channels.

The only information I have is that the song is approx 13 minutes long and plays on repeat , and is a recording of an Orchestra.

Is there anyway I can find out more information about this? We have contacted Qantas but weren't able to get anymore information.

Thanks in advance.

seems like a perfect request to send the QF FB team.....

Pretty sure this is the same track they play when boarding/navigating the IFE screens.

See original response here: Background Music on QF Flights

tl;dr Qantas had it composed for them and don't plan to release it.

Cheers, it makes sense then that he said that it was on repeat for approx 13 minutes. The information that I had was that it was a separate radio channel.

Thanks for your help

maybe a sign I've been flying too much lately (if that's a thing!) ;)

I think it’s awful. Mind you I had a flight stuck on the ground in Sydney for about 40 minutes a few weeks ago and it was playing the whole time. So it’s ruined for me.

Response from Q was very polite and advised
The boarding music has been composed specifically for Qantas by an Australian artist, Haydn Walker.

As this is a bespoke piece of work, it unfortunately is not available for purchase. It will however remain the boarding music and background music within the Inflight Entertainment systems for some time.

Cheers

Momentum is building here. Maybe I should bite the bullet and work out how to record it via the 3.5mm jack!

Yes please... If you've got a laptop it might be possible without any additional adapters (just a standard 3.5mm cable).

iPhones need a special line in cable ~$10-20 that can be found online.

The full song is 28 minutes long, and it is quite soothing. iPhone line in only records in mono, but there are other alternatives. ;)

iRig arrived today but I seem to have the wrong cables for it so won't be a starter this time around.

QF could make things a lot easier for us and just release the MP3. Don't they know how many hours I listen to this in the air whilst snoozing!!
