Hi All,

Returned safely from the USA, and stuck on 590 SC for my year ending 31 July.

I never received 50 SC for an AA flight from LAX-BOS that I missed because Qantas got in too late into LAX for me to board that flight (baggage made it, but I didn't.)

As a result, AA put me on 2 JetBlue flights. LAX-JFK/JFK-BOS.

When I first posted this connundrum, somebody mentioned that I should eventually get the 50 SC's due to "Original routing" rules or something similar.

They haven't arrived, and I'm wondering if there's some way for me to retain Gold, yet get the owed SC's in my account next month, which will help me retain Gold next year.

Also, is it true that QF allows U to rollover 40% of your accumulated points towards next year's total?

Or is that only if you've accrued 600 and over?

Most importantly, how do I go about this?

Thank U allso much!

You are entitled to Original Routing Credit, but you need to proactively request it - Qantas will not give it to you otherwise.

Email [email protected] with your original itinerary, PNR, and a succinct explanation of what happened including the words "involuntary change due to booking disruption" or similar and that you want to "request an original routing credit". Do it now and you will receive some sort of acknowledgement in the next 12-24 hours which includes an SR number. Then wait a week (during which you will get no response) and call the Frequent Flyer team asking them to sort it out on the spot.

Yes, your rollover amount is based on your status level. You can read more about it here.

How do I find my PNR?

Emailed as follows....

Hello,

I was looking at my account number 13xx_xx, as I recently returned from the USA.

My booking number was xx_xx_

I was expecting 50 Status Credits and a certain amount of points from flight QF3013 (operated by AA).

The date was Friday 17th of June 2022. Scheduled departure was 2230. Original route was LAX-BOS.

Due to the late arrival of QF93 (MEL-LAX) on the same date, and an extremely busy LAX, I did not make the flight.

And as such, there was an involuntary change due to booking disruption.

As you can imagine, I was quite upset about this occurrence.

The AA crew at LAX put me on 2 JetBlue flights, LAX-JFK & JFK-BOS.

The LAX outbound flight did not leave until about 3am and it made my trip unnecessary longer than it needed to be.

As such, I am requesting original routing credit of the 50 status credits & however many thousand Qantas Frequent Flyer points that would have been awarded to me had Qantas' on time performance been acceptable.

There were massive delays at the check in counter in MEL as well. Our departure time was delayed by a few hours at least.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you.

Ring them next week?
When?

Cheers.

You have put in your request and have received a response. When ever you choose to call QF is up to you, SC are based on the date of travel not when they appear in your QF account. My guess is when this is all done and dusted you will retain gold and unless you are travelling in early Aug I would be rush to call but would call to sort it out before you next need to travel. Last time I was faced with an issue like yours on arrival I just spoke with the lounge staff, explained what happened and by the time I landed at the next location the issue had been fixed.

You may also be entitled to gold via ff status support if

  • have made a new booking to travel on at least one eligible flight. The booking creation date must be between 28 February 2022 and before the member’s current status end date of between 31 July and 31 December 2022. The flight must be booked to travel before 31 December 2022.

And if you have points club plus you get another 100 sc credit rollover

I have 2 bookings. Mel-SYD, Syd-MEL in 2 weeks and mel-bne, bne-mel the week after.

Would be a huge help if I could retain Gold and those SC's + points could hit my account in August so I could start the year with 50+ 40% of 590.

Is this possible?

Cheers

Just phone them up. What you're asking for is routine and requires no discretion. I'd probably try not to make it emotive (your email is a little emotive). No schedule is guaranteed and they rebooked you on the next available service; the final part of the deal is ORC which they'll give you once you phone them (or they get to your email).

What I'm trying to get at is this.

I would prefer those 50sc's and FF points to hit my account after JUL31 so they can count towards my next year.

I'm gold, no points club.

And, if we assume that my 590 SC's rollover to 236 (40% of 590 = 236)

1. Will I start next year with 236?

2. If I get the original routing credit after JUL31, will the 50 owing be added to the 236, or will it be retroactively be awarded?

Keep in mind I have 2 domestic bookings in AUG that will net me another 50.

Is there a scenario where I start the year with 236 (40% of 2021-2 + 50 original routing credit). = 286.

That way after August my balance could be 336?

Is this feasible or am I ignorant in this regard?

Don't have any plans for international next year, so I need every possible boost I can.

Also,

Just under half my SC's this year have come from DSC. Do DSC's count towards rollover?

Just covering my bases.

Thanks all!

Good luck with that, Status Credits are applied to when you earn them (i.e. when you fly) not when they arrive in your account so no matter what they won't count towards next year. You will retain Gold this year and have to start again next year (with your status extension of 40% points up to 250 or whatever it is).

I'm confused. From what I understand you're already Gold, therefore given you have taken a flight / made a booking prior to 31 Dec 22, your current gold status will be continued for next membership year. Have I missed something?

Regarding your other question, no, status credits apply to the membership year in which you earned them, meaning that the 50 SC, even if credited in August won't count towards next membership year. Based on your scenario, you will likely start next year with 256 SCs (590+50 x 40%) leaving you with 344 to earn between 1 Aug 22 and 31 July 23 to retain gold. I'm unclear whether DSCs count as part of the rollover which could impact your rollover total.

The only way to move status credits other than points club and the current sc support is to delay a loyalty bonus sc if the timeframe allows.

Agreed. I didn't mention it as I had figured that the OP had not earned a loyalty bonus as that would require 500 SCs on a QF/JQ operated flight (no DSC) and given they are / were at 590 SCs total with a number coming from DCSs my assumption is that they didn't do the requisite flying.

No, the SC's earned from the AA flight( ORC will apply to the date taken and that (this) membership year. when they post to the account is irrelevant.

There is only one situation where this doesn't apply (that I am aware of). That is when selecting a loyalty bonus SC's. if one earns the LB near the end of the membership year, they have 90 days to select an option, let's say their membership rolls over during that 90 day window. Folks selecting the SC option post that rollover date will find the SC's count to the (new) membership year. Doesn't make a lot of sense or follow other practice, but it has been taken advantage of by a few :)

but not with ORC credits or any flight credited SC no matter when they show up.

Which number so I call?

I've been getting hung up upon.

What do I do?

I mean I'm travelling W qf from mel-syd-mel-bne-mel in a few weeks so surely I can work it out with ground staff then?

Ok im in the phone FF team bas do in Jakarta and the guy has no idea what I'm asking for.

This hurts.
