I'm currently in this lounge and I have to say I get more impressed every time I'm here.
I know architecturally it's a bit of a barn, and it's a bit light on showers.
Where I think it wins hands down over QF F Lounges in SYD/MEL is the staff, service and quality and range of food in the sit down restaurant. Maybe I'm jet lagged and not thinking straight but I'm always impressed here.

EDITED: And they make a mean Manhattan :)

I always find the staff a bit too deferential, it makes me a little uncomfortable. And the staff to pax ratio in that lounge is ridiculous!

Also the showers have really bad water pressure. First world problems I know.

My favourite DXB F story is when I was eating a very nice lunch#, seated next to the glass balustrade which over looks the lower levels.

Along from where I was sitting, a guy was up a ladder from the level below, cleaning the outer surface of the glass panels. Over a period of half an hour he shifted his ladder from time to time and was getting closer and soon we'd be eyeball to eyeball.

The maître d type in the restaurant watched this. When the guy did a ladder shift to be about 3 metres from me, the maître d type struck. Strode over, pointed sharply and said something (in non English) which sounded like "Go away! You will disturb the customer. Do it now!"

The guy bolted down his ladder out of view and I didn't see him again. :)

# I still say that it was one of the nicest steaks I have ever eaten.

I prefer the food in the QF F lounges over the EK F lounge at DXB. It's boring.

If the daily interactions in the real world life don't throw up enough surprises, there is always this forum to fall back on. :)

I must just be too easily pleased (Not something I'm often accused of, though. :)) While I accept the obvious in that individual tastes differ, I am quite surprised that the menus in the EK DXB F Lounge would be considered boring. My problem with testing out the range of a la carte options at different times of the day is that, usually, I've eaten so well on board that I don't need much in the lounge. But it does seem to me that there would be plenty to tempt the palate, with both the menu cards and the buffet offerings.

I am always impressed by the staff, too. Very proactive and helpful, I find - and I do like the way that every staff member (no matter what employment group) greets you as you pass by. There must be an excellent training program in place.

QF9, leaving in an hour. My son and I will be sampling the F DXB offerings in *gasp* fifteen hours. Looking forward to it immensely.

**back of the bus, this time round. At least we're upstairs.

Enjoy, I just got off that aircraft :)

They also a nice shoe shine service. First time I've ever used one and it was quite a treat.

I couldn't get the showers cold enough for my liking :(

I've only been in this lounge once but I wasn't wowed by it. I was on QF 2 in F. I had a lot of hand luggage. They wouldn't let me bring a small cart into the lounge, fair enough but, despite the huge staff to pax ratio and an almost empty lounge, nobody then offered to assist me to carry everything. Yes I could manage, but it wasn't great service. Then on boarding the DXB SYD sector, not only was there no First host to escort F pax onto the plane as there had been at LHR, but also the whole supposedly F boarding queue was held up by some DYKWIA in Y who was whinging because he was OWE but hadn't got the seat he wanted. Again, not great service.

I had heard bad reports about the showers beforehand and the best I can say about this lounge is that the showers were ok and not as bad as I had heard.

As a mid flight lounge I think it's great.
Very consistent with good efficient service. A bit deferential yes, but behind that the staff do seem genuinely friendly to me.

If only it had a view. It's not a lounge I'd get to early so that I could chill out, as I do in the Sydney F lounge.

I'm a fan.
How can it be wrong to feast on Fois Gras at 4am and wash it down with a Yara Yerring number 1 or a fine white burgundy?

I once had a 4 hour layover there and dutifully filled my stomach grazing on delicacies anticipating sleeping the food off in J on the way back to Oz. Imagine my horror at being upgraded to F and having to forego sleep to take advantage of the Taittinger and F menu. I didn't need to eat for a week after that trip.....

My heart bleeds for you. :)
Thanks for the best chuckle so far today!

Agree with this sentiment. Needed a shirt ironed and had to ask someone who simply replied with a "Sorry we don't offer that service" and then walked away. The showers also of a domestic J lounge quality. I just didn't think it was good enough as it did not meet my expectations. This is supposed to be the flagship lounge of the most opulent/extravagant airline in the world. Ironing should be offered (as it was in the EY lounge) and showers should be special (again as they were in the EY lounge at AUH).

Though with that said, on board I was not disappointed.

Slight hijack: Will I be able to guest Mr Katie and Little Miss with me into the F Lounge in DXB as QF WP?
