Opinion on Q suites

I assume from the fact that you were able to select the seats, you paid for the ticket rather than got redemption tickets?
I've been able to choose seats before when on a QFF points booking. I also have a paid booking in March where i cant choose another seat because the cabin is full, all seats are either occupied or blocked by the airline. Have you had a look thru expert flyer to see if something similar has happened to you?

You can select seats on award tickets. If the Qatar MMB doesn’t allow then just call. As a OWE I was able to select any J seat online.

That's exactly what we do.

Note that 1K is slightly smaller than 2J in terms of storage and "arm room". Mind you I'm 6"2' and hefty and it was fine for me.

Only slight issue with rear facing is that if you have a water bottle or something on the side bench thingy it goes flying down the aisle on rapid deceleration (i.e. landing)
During my first landing in the rear facing seats I had basically forgotten that I was facing backwards- especially as I was watching the forward camera during the landing. I had a camera and a couple of other items placed at the back of the storage area convinced that they would be safe. They all ended up at my feet. I was also so caught up with the camera vision that when the reverse thrust came on for a second I thought that we were doing a go-around because I was being pushed back into my seat.

Yep. That's what happened to us. Menu and phone. Only once. 😀. I'm spatially challenged so I had no idea what would happen.
