A heads up - arrival at OOL needing transport to Tweed Heads (ie sub 10min trip).

Four Ubers took job in sequence then cancelled. Price rise $14 —> $27. I cancelled before someone took the $27 job (figuring I was being played).

Taxi rank - taxi drives off without starting meter. I enquire “are you doing flat rate” - “yes, $25”.

I ask for meter. $15.80 incl airport fee of $3.90.

I kind-of get it (no idea how long they’ve waited), but it’s also somewhat infuriating.

Happening round the country.

That said I feel for the taxi drivers - we've got high inflation in most of the economy, fuel prices at record highs, and I don't think the government regulated fares have moved to reflect this.

Do Ubers have to queue? Don't they just get in and get out? If so, why reject a short fare? They can do the short fare and come straight back to the airport for another pick up.
