OOL Lounge

You know, a thought just occurred to me (happens infrequently).......with an absolute tarmac view and lounge positioning airside of security, OOL will pip MEL as the best postioned east coast* lounge (until upstairs at SYD is done).

* I've never been to ADL or PER lounges so can't compare with them

When they get around to doing the CNS Lounge (Please...!), it will have the best view of all. It will be alongside the QP, which overlooks Bays 20-22, over the runway and across to the rainforest covered mountains.

Our own security giving direct access would be pretty cool.

After a few flights out of OOL over the past few weeks the OOL lounge can NOT come soon enough!

J on most flights has been full of "suits" as they have clearly switched came from QF IMO

There is just no-where nice to sit at OOL, it's like a high-school food hall

From what I could see the lounge still looks like months away

I find there's a nice quiet spot in the back of the new Restaurant/Bar down near gate (3...? maybe 2...?) to enjoy a schooner of Sapporo before my flight. Nice view over the runway too. They've installed some retractable blinds to block the afternoon sun too, which is useful

But will certainly look forward to the Lounge being completed.

Please, please, please fast track this virgin! Can you give us a hint as to opening date? I was there last week & it looks forever away!

The old QC lounge at OOL from times ago was a wonderful haven & pleasant ambience, would be nice to see DJ replicating this in one way or another..

Suprisingly enough there are more than just leisure travellers in & out of OOL & a lounge would make those delays a tad more bearable...

Can't say much for the JQ lounge, bothersome for INT pax.

I'm quite disappointed that since I have left OOL, nobody has been updating this thread daily with pictures. ;)

OOL regulars... How's it looking, and sign of progress? I heard Mr Borghetti recently said in an interview that the OOL Lounge is on track to be opened in April.

I'll be back on the Gold Coast for easter, hope it's finished then!!

Not flying till Thursday will give you an update then.

If this lounge doesn't meet expectations, I foresee a riot coming!

Riot? Trouble-maker No.1 has left the building. Us GCers that remain loyal, are a very amiable bunch really! ;)

Alas my next scheduled flight out of OOL is not for 3 weeks so I can't help just yet with a progress report. Mind you, when I told my better half the lounge wouldn't be complete, her demeanour altered somewhat for the worse! The air is so thick with expectation, you could cut it with a knife!

Sorry Liam, yes I was there last night but there is not much happening at least from the outside. I assume that construction is full steam ahead on the interior but until the scaffolding comes down there's not much to see or report.

As of this morning the green shade cloth wrap has all come down and all the new glass is finished. Fire alarm testing is due in the next 2 weeks and internal works continue apace. The May scheduled opening will be met (pending no major interior disasters)

I'm sure one of the resident pedants will soon appear to remind you that the booze in the lounge is not free, it's included in your fare!

No it's not! It's part of the freebie sunshine and roses entity which is DJ!

But of course, they're just not as good as QF.
