Hi, I know that this is off topic, but I have heard about the Million Mile thing a few times now, but have not been able to find any link to the rules etc on this forum or on flyertalk or on AA. But that could be because I am not searching correctly. Could anybody give me a link to a thread or a whatever for the rules etc. Thanks

Again - I too am concerned about this - what is this talk of the "million miles thing"? Is this a bad thing or a good thing???

An Undocumented (on AA.com) AAdvantage benefit (like the Plat/Gold Challenge) is that with Lifetime earnings of 1Million AAdvantage miles (from any source) comes Lifetime AAdvantage Gold Status; 2Million miles, it's LT Plat!

Also, for those living outside North America

On attaining Lifetime Gold, 2 eVIPs are awarded
On attaining Lifetime Platinum, 4 eVIPs are awarded
For each subsequent million miles attained, another 4 eVIPs are awarded

For those living in North America, electronic upgrades are awarded at 1 million miles. evips are awarded for 2MM onwards

Ahh that -I was wondering if there was a change happening re that such as "only from flying" or a reduciton to 1/2 million ;)

In my opinion, any move by AA to link lifetime status (Gold and Plat) to miles earned from flying will be a good thing. Personally I do not believe miles earned from credit card spend, hotel stays, car rentals, dining etc should count towards lifetime airline status.

No likelihood of reduction methunks, though had heard rumours regarding restricting it

I have just received an email back from customer service AA.I specifically asked whether the AA codeshare on the QF flight BNE-LAX would qualify for the platinum challenge next year.
The answer was if a codeshare is marketed by AA,sold by AA with an AA flight number it will qualify even if on another airlines plane.Good news but I am keeping a copy of this email.
