Hello all,

I searched and didn't really find what i am after, i was wondering what online ticketing sites people use ?
Having issues finding somebody to sell some KIX - MEL - KIX tickets

The Australian ones i know of are... (+ the airlines)
ZUJI: Your Online Travel Guru
Qantas, Virgin Blue, and Jetstar Air Cheap Flights & Airfares - Webjet Travel Insurance
Book cheap flights, holidays, hotels, cars and attractions online – Expedia.com.au

Any other good places to try ?

From expert flyer i see tickets at about $800 US + taxes. (Travel dates are approx 28/3/07 and return 3/4/07)

Thanks, Evan

Could give bestflights a go. I try and find the best price I can online (except for Virgin and Jet* I book them direct) and then print it out and take it to Flightcentre (always the same one where they know me) and they always beat it by about $20 to get the booking. This is my experience anyway as a retired person who loves to travel.

I still find that my travel agent can "deliver the goods" better than most sites and mostly with better options and prices. Not always, but like mine, a good TA says so when online is best.

I have noticed in the press a lot lately too more discussion about the value of agents over online services.

I'm sure if you

a) paid for access to a reservation/booking system
b) spent most of your working time using the above system
c) depended on it for your livlihood

would do a better job than websites too...

Anyone got $20K to do this? With compulsory insurance/registration costs (IATA, DAPA, TIDS etc.) that's about how much you'd need in Oz to do a). :-|

I don't envy the travel agents, but i did read an interesting story about them doing well in Germany with older travelers who prefer a face to face contact, and lots of older German's have saved money during there lives and no traveleing a lot more.

I am happy to use a travel agent if i ever find a good one i like, used the local flight center a few times, have been good.
Problem is local agents usually cant sell fares originating from another country.

I never did find my fares i was after, one last attept today on the phone O/S.
(I did find the fares but involved airport changes and over night stays !)
The other answer is we will spend a couple of days enjoying Cairns as a stop over, but dont want to have to do that every trip.

Shame JAL (QF codeshare) are stopping there KIX-MEL service.

That is less of a problem than it used to be since IATA got rid of SITI/SOTI/SOTO/SITO restrictions. However still some fares are restricted (eg ex-Sri Lanka) and generally TAs will have less knowledge and familiarity of fares ex other countries.

I was surprised to discover this week (annual travel research has begun!) that Bestflights, Zuji and a Sydney firm called Jetabroad (which I hadn't seen previously) are all offering some non-Aus fares through their normal search engines. Very useful for J-class tix ex-Asia!

If only I could find someone who sells tix for Etihad:confused: (Etihad's own site is less than reliably functional it seems).

I also like to use my Travel Agent, but do my research first to find the best price before I contact her. I know what I want before I get there and with Flightcentre's policy of beating your best price, works well for me. I have used the same Flightcentre for several years, they know me and know that I have shopped around online before I come. Without asking now I always get 20% off travel insurance and no charge for my credit card (don't know how long that will last) as long as I use visa or Mastercard. Knowing what I want means I don't take a lot of their time either, so a quick sale for them even if they have to give me a good discount.

Hi...how much do they usually beat your internet fare by??

Is ita %.....r saya standard aamount off (ie $50) or ...

Thanks

Do allow for the drawback of using an agent; they may well impose their own additional cancellation / changes fees on top of the airlines

Usually only $20, but then they do the work and if I have a problem I have someone to call to sort it out for me. eg Bangkok coup happened, we wanted to change our itinerary to Hong Kong instead of Bangkok after our cruise, last minute.
