Oneworld website to open up the globe | The Australian

THE Oneworld alliance is about to score a travel industry first by selling multi-airline round-the-world fares online.
The alliance - which includes Qantas, British Airways and Cathay Pacific - will launch an online booking facility in the next few months that will enable passengers to book round-the-world tickets to more than 700 destinations served by its 10 member airlines and 20 affiliates.
Customers and travel agents will be able to book and pay online for up to 16 segments on a Oneworld Explorer ticket.
The system will verify flight availability and display only those flights with seats available for the dates and routes selected. It will automatically validate that the trip meets all rules and conditions, issue a price, allow customers to pay online using a credit card and print an itinerary.
