Trying to plan/book a DONE4 itinerary out of HKG using the oneworld web tool but flights I want to use aren't being offered -

It won't offer me QF flights SIN-DXB or DXB-LHR,e.g. QF8433. I realise these are codeshared Emirates flights but they have a QF number so why not visible there? If I booked the itinerary with an agent rather than online, could I expect these flights to be allowable?

It also wont offer me AA flights LGA-ROA and a few other similar US sectors where the AA site offers the flight with an AA number, but operated by American Eagle through Envoy Air, e.g. AA3086. Again, wouldn't such flights be available in a DONE4 itinerary, so why wouldn't they come up in the ow tool?

Am I expecting too much of the tool? I have found it helpful for this same type of itinerary in the past, but I guess probably using more mainstream flights. (I am trying to use the SIN-DXB-LHR QF flights rather than a more preferred direct SIN-LHR BA flight to maintain acceptable SC earn under the new improved QFF rules)

The tool is by no means perfect, but I've booked quite a few xONEx's quite successfully over the last few years.

Unfortunately, in this case, the tool is working fine. You can only include flights on Oneworld metal, or the metal affiliates that are specified in the terms and conditions of the xONEx fare (they are buried somewhat deep in the OW website). Emirates are certainly not on that list; I would imagine Envoy Air are not either. xGLOBx fares have a greater range of airline affiliates to choose from, but Emirates will not be included on those either.

Great!! And here I was going out of my way to accommodate QFFs improvements! Will have to really put my thinking cap on now, if I'm to find an affordable way to maintain WP beyond 2015.

Apologies, Hawkeye, neglected to thank you for the info - my manners temporarily suspended by angst at yet another downside to the QF-EK!

I located the ow explorer fare rules. Travel is generally only permitted on the member airlines' codeshare services operated by other member airlines, but there are a few additional codeshares allowed. These include QF codeshares on QantasLink and a few other Oz regionals, but no mention of EK of course, so my plan to earn full J SC on those QF EA coseshares is definitely out. So is my incentive to fly those sectors, I will revert to the BA direct SIN-LHR flights and try to make up the SC shortfall by milking the DONE4 fare for all its worth on internal US 'first' sectors.

I did see however that AA codeshares operated by American Eagle (operated by Envoy Air and a few others) ARE permitted on xONEx fares, but I guess I will need to go through my HK TA to set up the itinerary, rather than doing it online?

One option could be SIN-HEL-LHR on AY (or even the first sector on QF code on AY) which would earn slightly more SCs than SIN-DXB-LHR.

Vinomofo is the best wine deals site on the planet. Good wines, real people and epic deals, without all the bowties and bs.

QF booking page seems to indicate that SIN-HEL is now only available as an award flight, so probably not codesharing any more? It would be an option as an AY flight in a DONEx itinerary, earning 80SC under the QF partner UK/Europe - Asia category I guess. Then a BA HEL-LHR would earn 60 SC under the QF partner 751-1500 miles category(?), for a total of 140. Not as good as the 200 SC QF SIN-DXB-LHR would have earned if allowable in a DONE4, but better than the direct BA SIN-LHR at only 80 SC (again, under the UK/Europe - Asia category). These new rules are very confusing and convoluted, so I could be misreading.

On expert flyer, the codeshare is still showing up as available with a few random dates I looked at, lots of D availability too. If you could do the codeshare it would increase earn to 160+60 instead of 80+60.

The Envoy name is part of the US Airways/AA takeover/merger. Have read on FT US like the "envoy" name. Their business or first class is "envoy" IIRC. So OW not accepting is a bug in my view

The OW tool at times (always?) only allows you to select the operating carrier and not the codeshare. But you can change to the codeshare after the ticket is issued if D class is available. The codeshares are not listed in the OW timetables (pdf, etc), You need to hunt in the airlines timetable for codeshares, eg AA, AY etc. AA for example have codeshares on QR
